I will be on the Legend of the seas 4/27 departing from Ensanada & 5/7 returning to Ensenada. Could anyone tell me the time of the muster drill & formal nights on these cruises?
Also, first time to Hawaii so any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Aloha Trish, I hope you enjoy your first visit to our beautiful state. There are many, many things to do in Hawai`i. Rather than try to tell you what we like to do, I'd like to suggest that you spend some time viewing past posts and then, if you have any specific questions, ask away.

There are several of us who frequent these boards and are fortunate enough to live here. Spleen and SueBee are on Oahu, Emi is on the Big Island of Hawai`i, and my hubby and I live on Maui.

Now, a favor for you. We are booked on the Legend of the Seas this December. We are very interested in the ship and anything you can tell us about her. We'll be on deck 7, aft starboard. Please fill us in on your adventure.

Best of luck and enjoy your holiday.

Sandi

Thanks Sandi & Spleen.
You both along with SueBee & Emi graciously share your knowledge with those of visiting your paradise. For all of us on this board I thank you.

I have sort of haunted the boards reading posts and reviews. It is such a great way to gather information.

However, I do need some specific advice.
I walk with a cane. I can not go up steep inclines or steps or walk on uneven ground.

I have found through my reading that the Botanical Gardens on Hilo has a steep wooden walkway.
Also on Maui the visitors center at the top of Mt. Haleakala has steep steps and a steep walkway.

Sandi, you are right, there are so many things to do and see in Hawaii. I don't want to waste any of the precious time going to something only to find out it is not accessible for me.
If anyone knows of other things to see and do that would be inaccessible for me please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated.

Sandi, my cabin is on deck 7 too! I will let you know about the Legend after my return.
Thanks again.

Trish - that means, on Oahu, the walk to Diamond Head is out. Also, on the Big Island, walking to lava and going to Akaka and Rainbow Falls is likely to be too hard as well.

I do NOT recall any steep steps to the visitors center at Haleakala. The walkway itself to the crater from the parking lot is relatively flat, if I remember correctly, though there may be some loose stones scattered about. I would still go to Haleakala.

Spleen
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my question.
I will mark Akaka Falls & Rainbow Falls off my list of things to see.
I will have to enjoy seeing Diamond Head from a distance and walking to lava is definitely out.
I am very pleased to learn that I can put sunrise at Haleakala back on my list! Thanks for the warning about the loose stones as it will be dark when I get there.
Your advice as always is invaluable. Thank you!

Trish: Spleen is right, Haleakala should be accessible to you. The walkways are all paved, and a brand new (as of August) facility houses restrooms and the visitor center. It isn't 100% flat, but not steep either.

I'd also recommend a visit to Iao Valley, which is in central Maui. The area around the visitor center is relatively flat, and a gentle walk will take you far enough to see the Iao Needle.

Enjoy your visit...

Thank you so much Sandi for the information about the Iao Valley and the visitor center at Haleakala!
I am thrilled to know I can go the Iao Valley and to the Iao Needle in addition to Haleakala!
You guys are great! Thanks again!
