rushrhees Posted September 15, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2004 Only been on one cruise, West caribbean Explorer of the seas in summer, but just wondering what is new years eve on the ship like, I am considering booking one over this holiday season
suntanzi Posted September 15, 2004 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2004 My first cruise was a RC Caribbean NYEve cruise, best time of my life. We left on the 31st so the excitement of the 1st day, NYEve, and everyone in formal wear and bottles of champagne everywhere made for a very festive night. :)
Cloud 9 Posted September 15, 2004 #3 Share Posted September 15, 2004 Cruising during the Holiday Season is a Magical experience! There is so much excitement in the Air, and everyone seems to be so HAPPY! The Decorations are awesome & the passengers are dressed so lovely. New Years Eve is Spectacular! The Captain sounds the Ship's Horns at Midnight & sometimes shoots Fireworks. You will not be disapointed and you will never ever forget it. Go for it Rush! imsulin Posted September 15, 2004 #4 Share Posted September 15, 2004 And stop by your bank on the way to make sure you can afford it! Holiday cruises are VERY expensive. This year, since Christmas and New Year's are both on a Saturday, mose cruise lines are doing 10-night cruises to accomodate both Holidays. cruising2ctheworld Posted September 17, 2004 #5 Share Posted September 17, 2004 We are doing our first New Year's cruise this year. :) I can't imagine a better way to ring in the new year, since we're doing something we love -- cruising. We booked a 10 day cruise on the Sun Princess. It was a few hundred dollars more than a non-holiday cruise, but we feel well worth it. It will be so nice to kick back and relax after the holiday rush. Anyone have any tips on New Year's cruising?
SisZ Posted September 20, 2004 #6 Share Posted September 20, 2004 We, too, are cruising on New Year's...the very same cruise taken two weeks later, in the middle of January is $1,000 CHEAPER!! This is our first cruise, and with two kids in private school, (no bus transportation), we decided it would be now, or in fifteen years!! Since we took the plunge and bit the expensive bullet, I can hardly sleep and read these forums every day, trying to be an informed passenger!! Merion_Mom Posted September 20, 2004 #7 Share Posted September 20, 2004 rushrhees: Going this year may not be an option. Many ships are all but sold out. (are you 2 or 3 to a cabin? there are almost no triple cabins left) The remaining cabins are ASTRONOMICAL. We are going on our second New Year's Eve cruise this December, and we booked it this past January. It wasn't cheap then. If you could GET our cabin on this ship now, it would cost you approximately 175% of what we are paying. OUCH! Carol
