Pride of America- Maui port Question

We are thinking of renting a car on Maui and driving to see friends in Wailea at the Four Seasons. Does anyone know how far the port or better yet how long it would take us to drive to that that area? I have been to Maui many times but only to the Wailea area, so I have know idea.

 

Also, if this would be possible, what time would we have to be back to the ship if we did this drive on the first day, since we stay in Maui overnight? I didn't know if they stop taking passengers back to the ship at a certain time if we are stopped for the night at that port.

 

Does it matter which rental car company you use?

unless you are docking at the other port near the airport. So maybe call Enterprise so they deliver it to you.

i am pretty sure that we are not docking at Lahaina, so I guess that means it is near the airport? How long will that take? Any ideas? I think it is called Kuhlana maybe??

You can reserve a car through Thrifty. They have a shuttle at the dock.

Takes about 30 minutes to get your car. You can drive over to the 4 Seasons in less than a half hour or so. Maui is not that big. You should have plenty of time.

And oh yes...you can come and go as you please overnight at the ship. There is parking for the rental car right there. They keep the doors open all night long.

Ummm, Lahaina isn't anywhere near the airport. Lahaina is in West Maui, and it is about 45-60 minutes to Wailea from Lahaina, depending on traffic.

You are right about Maui not being that large, but it can take a good 30 -45 minutes to get to the Four Seasons, depending on traffic. It seems that you just can't travel as far as fast on the islands as on the mainland. It is a nice drive though.

All rental car companies have shuttles that will pick you up at the ship. Shop around - the prices between the companies vary widely. They will shuttle you from the ship to the Kahului airport (not far) and you'll be on your way quickly. The airport code when you look at the various websites is OGG.

The POAM docks at Kahului, and NOT lahaina. The thrifty car rental location for Kahului (OGG) is located just a few minutes by shuttle from the POAM dock. If you register for blue chip, you should be on the road very quickly if you pre-reserve a car, as this office was very efficient.
