Pre-Sail Excursion in Whittier

We have never sailed out of Whittier (or anywhere else in Alaska) before and I have a logistics question. With the train arriving at Whittier at 12:30, and the ship (Carnival Spirit) leaving at 9PM, would we have enough time to do a PWS tour that runs from 1:15 to 6:30? Could we drop off our bags when the train arrives, and check in when the tour gets back?

If anyone has done this before, I'm I being realistic or biting off too much?

Thanks for the information.

The timing worked out great! Checked in by 12:30 ish , ate a quick lunch, then walked over to the glacier cruise office . Came back in time for open seating dinner. It all worked out and was a wonderful way to see the glaciers up close- much closer than from the cruise ship!

Absolutely- the train transport works perfectly with the afternoon boat tours. Your bags will go directly to the ship, no claiming. There will be a line to board, so you may just want to head right to the boat tour office, instead of trying to get on/off the cruiseship.
