3redheads Posted January 27, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2008 Booking my airfare separately, not roundtrip, is much cheaper. Of course, I'm using different carriers, but the price is a lot less-$300 cheaper and I get the times I want. Is there a disadvantage to booking it this way? WhiteSoxFan Posted January 27, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2008 I just did this on a trip to Florida. United to Tampa and AA from Orlando. No problem at all. Was still able to do online check-in. No difference from booking roundtrip.
Sue L Posted January 27, 2008 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2008 Not at all, many of the carriers like Jet blue and such are all set up that way.
Conanc Posted January 27, 2008 #4 Share Posted January 27, 2008 No disadvantages. If you can save money -- go for it!
Sailingbear Posted January 27, 2008 #5 Share Posted January 27, 2008 Not really a disadvantage but know that booking two one-way tickets (vs. a round-trip) generally increases the chance of getting flagged at airport security for a more thorough check. Give yourself the recommended amount of time at the airport and you should be fine.
cb at sea Posted January 27, 2008 #6 Share Posted January 27, 2008 Yeah--I was going to say that one-way tickets get more security attention than round-trips. Not a huge deal, but still....

willysgrandma Posted January 30, 2008 #8 Share Posted January 30, 2008 We do this all the time for clients. There are no disadvantages.
springtxbill Posted January 30, 2008 #9 Share Posted January 30, 2008 If you do a last minute one -way, it might flag security, but not if booked way in advance.:)
