jrw Posted February 7, 2008 #76 Share Posted February 7, 2008 Keep those secrets coming.....some of them are very good! Do they give out laynards in the casino for your sign and sail cards? No free lanyards anywhere on board that I've seen...

FritzG Posted February 8, 2008 #79 Share Posted February 8, 2008 On the Jan 17th Diamond you could get lanyards in the casino. Milk and cookies were served by the pool on Deck 14, and in Horizon Court around 3:30-4:30, the same hours as the free ice cream by Horizon Ct. and as tea in the dining rooms. One girl had warm cookies in a basket, and another was pushing a cart with pitchers of milk.
Rare expectthebest Posted February 8, 2008 #80 Share Posted February 8, 2008 If you like getting massages and facials...sometimes during the last art auctions the girls from "lotus spa" come in and you bid on services but they stop the bidding at $50 and everyone that wants one gets one.. which is great for my wife who enjoyed a hot stone massage regularly $140 dollars for only $50!! but as soon as they take your name leave the auction and book your treatment so you get the time slot you want. Toto2Kansas Posted February 18, 2008 #84 Share Posted February 18, 2008 No free lanyards anywhere on board that I've seen... Just ask at the cashier's cage, they usually have several different colors to choose from back there. They will punch a hole in your card so you can attach the 'cord' to you and won't forget it in one of the machines. But they are not the typical 'neck lanyards' that you can buy in the shops. sunlover2 Posted February 18, 2008 #85 Share Posted February 18, 2008 This is a great thread. We are going on our first Princess cruise and really appreciate all these "secrets"...ideas. Keep them coming :p Someone mentioned another thread (like this) with a link to it but it would not open up :(
GBeret Posted February 19, 2008 #86 Share Posted February 19, 2008 I can only relate my experience from Carnival. I know on Carnival you can go to the Pursers Desk and ask for a free deck of cards, my question is does Princess offer this? Ahhh ... But ... They would no longer be secrets. ;) Yes, they have and will give a deck of playing cards. :D
Nancyquilts Posted February 19, 2008 #87 Share Posted February 19, 2008 For a while I thought my wife & I were the only ones who ever had a problem with the volume in the show lounge & muts. I really don't understand why they have to have it over 90 db. I suppose it's for effect but it's really annoying & we wouldn't travel on any ship without earplugs. You'll always be able to recognize us at the shows - we're the ones with sound suppressors used at gun ranges - knocks 26 decibels right off the top - you can still hear everything, but at a much more pleasant level. Of course, they're pretty bulky and ugly, especially on formal night. Nancy
harrodsfan Posted February 19, 2008 #88 Share Posted February 19, 2008 I got a free princess Calendar at the future cruise desk. We entered the ships quiz the first day and won stuff because no one else entered... Not free but the sale on the last day had some great bargains on random things like spray sanitizer (50 cents) and perfume...$5...Worth checking out....but be careful because there were also $10 items from the $10 store..lol. Free quizzes everyday that are fun to take home for party games.. First day of scrapbooking had free die cuts...paper... free giveaways at the shopping lecture. :) I like free....it is a good price. And FYI, you can mix the brands of beers in the bucket. :D We were not allowed to mix the brands of beer. In fact, this came about because the bar we were at only had 4 bud....we said just add the 5th as bud light. We were told he couldn't and therefore and to pick a different type if we wanted the bucket.
zacc Posted February 22, 2008 #91 Share Posted February 22, 2008 You cabin steward can get you the use of the heavy Princess robes if they want to. These are the Suite robes. I prefer the lighter weight ones. You can get extra Patters each day, say one for shore and one for the scrapbook. I've been able to get copies of menus to scan at home. I've been invited to see the radio room by leaving a request with the Pursur. Adding things to the breakfast menu and earlier serving times have worked. If you want to hear the conversations between the bridge, the excursion folks and the docking and undocking crew bring a scanner. If you want to protect your hearing during deck parties and some Princess shows bring your earplugs. Sorry.....Thread drift. Do you know the frequencies they use? gooch47 Posted February 22, 2008 #92 Share Posted February 22, 2008 Unfortunately, the color coded carpet isn't on all ships. We miss it when it isn't there. The lanyards would probably only be available on ships that use the card readers in the slot machines. The towel animals seem to have started showing up again lately. A long dry spell. jas4141 Posted February 22, 2008 #95 Share Posted February 22, 2008 Thanks a million for the tips (quite helpful)....first time on Princess, early March. morriscats Posted February 22, 2008 #97 Share Posted February 22, 2008 You can order soy milk in the dining room and the buffets if you don't drink regular milk. alaskancruzr Posted February 23, 2008 #98 Share Posted February 23, 2008 Went on the Dawn in January with my parents. Told my Mom to watch for the carpet color so she wouldn't be confused when getting off the elevator and heading for her cabin -sure enough... both sides blue  Poor Mom! NancyChgo Posted February 23, 2008 #99 Share Posted February 23, 2008 Its 5 for the price of 4....we just got back yesterday and went through many a bucket of beer!! Can you have these delivered to your cabin (for a tip, of course), or do you need to 'self-serve' at one of the bars and carry to your cabin? NancyChgo Posted February 23, 2008 #100 Share Posted February 23, 2008 A little more extreme, but you can disembark at one port and reboard at the next (although you need to tell the purser as they may need to clear immigration for you). For example, we got off in Cozumel and reboarded in Progresso, on the other side of the Yucatan peninsula, so we could spend the night at the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza. Bill WOW! I'd never heard of that before; but on some itineraries it would make a lot of sense. Good info to know. thanks for sharing!
