DivineDivia Posted January 28, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2008 Any suggestions on hotels to stay at (or avoid) near Port Canaveral? Thanks!
proudmomof2 Posted January 28, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2008 I haven't stayed in a hotel there since we live in Florida.... BUT, last year we took a cruise with friends of ours from out of town, they flew in a day early and stayed at a hotel right near the port. They loved it and when they woke up in the morning, they could see the ship from the hotel. Here is the link to her review of the cruise, the hotel information and her experience with it is in there. http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=31108 Hope this helps. ab340 Posted January 29, 2008 #5 Share Posted January 29, 2008 Any suggestions on hotels to stay at (or avoid) near Port Canaveral? Thanks! A group of us (16) are sailing on Mariner in April and booked into the County Inn & Suites. Brandy, the Group Sales Manager was very helpful. It is quite a new hotel and the closest one ( I think) to the port in Cape Canaveral. I did quite a bit of research using the "I work in P Canaveral" thread. Very, very useful info. Hope this helps!:D
DiveCruiser Posted February 1, 2008 #6 Share Posted February 1, 2008 We are staying at the Radisson at the port which seems to get a good all around thumbs up at tripadvisor.com. It is close to the pier. The pool looks great. We booked the park and cruise (even though we are flying in) because is was the same price as the caribbean room by it's self and it comes with a full breakfast. chuck/debbie Posted February 1, 2008 #7 Share Posted February 1, 2008 We stayed at the Raddisson and it was wonderful.. free shuttle anywhere you want in the evening or after 3pm... plus free shuttle to the ship the next day. I would recommed this hotel in a heatbeat.
suezyq50 Posted February 2, 2008 #8 Share Posted February 2, 2008 We like the Residence Inn. Full breakfast is included. Free parking while on cruise. It is a bit more that those close by. We are trying out Country Inn and Suites the end of February. Price is real good.
psblin99 Posted February 2, 2008 #9 Share Posted February 2, 2008 All 3 mentioned are right outside the port and very nice. Take a walk down to Manatee Park before you leave.
suezyq50 Posted February 2, 2008 #10 Share Posted February 2, 2008 Where is Manatee park? Thanks
Rare silentbob007 Posted February 2, 2008 #11 Share Posted February 2, 2008 Another vote for the Residence Inn ... great stay and nice rooms. If you are staying on a weeknight, they have a manager's reception with free food, wine, and beer in the afternoon.
psblin99 Posted February 3, 2008 #12 Share Posted February 3, 2008 Where is Manatee park? Thanks There is a traffic light right by the Radisson. It is Central avenue and Manatee Park is at the end behind the hotel. Takes about 10-15 to walk.
snelsonbrown Posted February 3, 2008 #13 Share Posted February 3, 2008 Where is Manatee park? Thanks The Manatee Park Manatee Sanctuary Park located at 701 Thurm Blvd which is off West Central Ave - this is located right between Zackery's Restaurant and Traxx (Zackery's is right next door to the Radisson) - park hours are from 7AM to dark. You can walk to it from the Raddison: 2 long blocks approx 10 to 15 mins walking, but you do have a sidewalk and the walk is nice althought not shady. There is no cost and it does have a super nice and clean rest room, places to sit out of the sun. Best time for manatees: early morning or just before dusk. Dolphins were out the other morn "trolling" for breakfast - it is so interesting to watch. The manatees don't care one way or another :-) Always Shirley
suezyq50 Posted February 3, 2008 #14 Share Posted February 3, 2008 Thanks for the input. We like cruising out of Port Canaveral due to a fairly easy drive for us, 9 hrs. Having done this 3 times and now the end of month, we needed something different.
bahama daydreamer Posted February 3, 2008 #15 Share Posted February 3, 2008 Another vote for Residence Inn. We stayed there Oct. 2006 and it was really nice. We had a room overlooking the cruise ships so we could look out and see them in the morning. They had a good breakfast in the lobby area. I would definately stay there again. MonaCD Posted February 4, 2008 #16 Share Posted February 4, 2008 My vote is for the Residence Inn as well. Relatively new hotel, clean, well maintained, friendly, helpful staff and the best included breakfast I've had yet. My parents and I shared a one bedroom King suite, I slept on the pull out sofa, which was fine for one night. My only complaint was to get to the bathroom you had to go through the bedroom which is kind of a pain if you have to "go" in the middle of the night. mrsmoore07 Posted February 5, 2008 #17 Share Posted February 5, 2008 Do any of these hotels also offer shuttles from Orlando Airport? Or what is the best way to get from the airport? Thanks! Marsha
psblin99 Posted February 5, 2008 #18 Share Posted February 5, 2008 Marsha contact Cocoa Beach or Space Coast shuttle. They will take you both ways. Mention CC and they will give you 10% off.

dipt1 Posted February 9, 2008 #20 Share Posted February 9, 2008 We loved the Radisson Resort at the Port. Great pool, booked a suite and the whirlpool and extra space was awesome. Good poolside menu and bar! Awesome pre cruise stay!
