A few hot tip! (Pride)

I'll be writing a review soon - I got pretty sick on Thursday (who gets sick on vacation anyway??) and don't feel up to it yet. but - I wanted to mention a couple things before I forget.

First thing - make sure you scope out all the food stations - including outside! On Saturday I found a chocolate dipping station - and they had homemade donuts! the donuts (big ones!) were on a long skewar, I put them in a bowl and they poured melted chocolate on them.......mmmmmmmm.......(sorry......I'm drooling)

Second - the Bitter N Blanc (spelling?) is to DIE for. If you like it as much as we did - here's a couple tips. Number one, is that they have something at the buffet which is identical except no chocolate. I think it was vanilla bread pudding? it was sort of yellowish in a big pan, with vanilla sauce on the side. (I ate an entire dinner plate of it)

Second thing - if there is something you love - ask your waiter if you can get more on a different night. I got sick and had to leave dinner early (not ship related - sinus and congestion) and missed an amazing dessert. We mentioned it to our waiter the next morning at breakfast, and he had the chef prepare it for us for the very next night! Was that nice or what?! (YUMMMMMM)

Those very cool Carnival pens? you can get some extras for free at the pursers desk.

DON'T make the mistake I did. If you need some cash and can't use an ATM, take your sign & sail to the Casino. yes, there's a 3% fee. But it goes on your S&S card, and you pay it with your credit card as tho it were a regular charge. (it's listed on your bill as entertainment). I went to the pursers desk, got $250, and not only was the charge more (5.5%) but it went directly to my credit card as a cash advance, which my card immediately starts to charge intrest on. A lesson hard learned...............

Last hot tip - we've never gone to the captains party, or past guest party - but make sure you go! You will get your choice of freebie drinks, lots of yummy appetizers, your past guest pin, and some pretty classy dancing, to some pretty classy music.

I need to add a couple more - which goes for any ship you're on.....

We wrote the chef a nice note - (the food WAS exceptional this time) - do it early on in the cruise and we received a nice bottle of wine at dinner!

Make sure, if you're planning on spending some bucks in the casino that you take the time to contact the Ocean Players club. I never did prior to this cruise, and wish I would have. We received chocolate covered strawberries on the first day, and a $15 coupon for pictures, that night. Came in handy since I spent $140 on pics.

Make sure you do early check in at the Queen Mary if you're sailing the Pride, and DO take the time to tour it.

When you're out shopping, a good place to go is the grocery stores - obviously the locals shop there so prices aren't ridiculous, and you don't need to haggle with them. (I'm not a good haggler!)

Annie,

I like your grocery store tip. Especially in Puerto Vallarta. Also in PV are stores called "Six" they are on corners like a starbucks. Similar to 7-11 only smaller, and they sell booze. In particular....they are going to sell that high dollar tequila you tasted at the tequila tasting place. Only they are going to save you a lot of money over what the tasting place wants.

In PV, consumption of adult beverages was allowed on public sidewalks, etc.

good tips. i have never gotten my pins at the pg party. they have always been delivered to my cabin. in one instance only 2 were delivered, and all 5 of us are past guests, and in another instance, they were not delivered at all and they were not being given out at the party.

in the first instance, we asked our cabin steward to give us the missing pins. in the second, i went to the purser's desk with my invites b/c my cabin steward was nowhere to be found.
