Key West Clay.... Another Question

Bahama Village is the historically African-American part of town. It is generally bordered by Whitehead Street on the east, Truman Annex on the north, Fort Zach on the south and west. The main drag into the village is Petronia Street. Restaurants of note include Blue Heaven and a bakery whose name escapes me but its something like "the art of baking" and ifyou want to see a cute shop with interesting items (old fashion toilet water, bejeweled purses..real eclectic, "Besume Mucho" is worth a stroll. All of these are down Petronia. Unfortunately, Bahama Village is also the center of drug sales in KW so I wouldn't go down there after dark.

If you haven't been to the Butterfly Conservatory, i highly recommend it.

Bahama Village is also home to the best party of the year...Goombay. For two days and nights Petronia Street is packed with nearly every local. Food and craft vendors line the street and bands keep the party going. Blue Heaven usually has a good band playing atop the water-tower bar.
