Voyager smoke free casino nights? smoke-free bars?

On our Jewel cruise in January, there were 2 smoke free casino nights. Also the lobby bar, Schooner bar and Champagne bar were completely smoke free. How about the Voyager?

The casino was pretty smoky in my opinion. I think there are smoke free areas in the bars, but not completely smoke free from what I recall.

The Voyager of the Seas casino smelled like

an ashtray. I filled out my opinion form and,

told them this...for all the good that would do.

We could NOT go to the casino each evening for all the smoke in there.

The VOS evidentially does not have NO SMOKING evenings.

Also, the Schooner Bar was a smoking bar for Trivia.

We avoided it there too.

Strange, since I thought as of Jan. 1, all ships were to have at least 1 non-smoking bar or lounge. I HATE having to walk thru the Schooner bar when it is not non-smoking!

On the Explorer last week, there was one night that the casino was smoke-free. The Champagne bar (the smallest of all) is a non-smoking area, but since the new rules banning smoking in the staterooms went into effect, the smokers now congregate in all the other bars where smoking is permitted. Walking down the promenade could have you holding your breath, especially in front of the pub and the sports bar.

The Hotel Director was asked about it during the Captain's Corner, and he promised that additional non-smoking initiatives will be rolled out, hopefully sooner rather than later. He admitted that there is additional smoke in the lounges now that the cabins are smoke-free, and recognized it as a problem.

The best that we can do for now is a) mention it to the Hotel Directors and Captains on all the ships whenever possible, b) write it on the comment cards, c) continue to post about it here, and d) make sure Royal Caribbean corporate gets our (smoke-free) drift.

Yes, we noticed the promenade was particularly bad on our recent cruise. You could see the smoke when you were at the end and looked down the whole Promenade, it hung above like a cloud by the pub area. I mentioned it on our comment card.

Champagne Bar was non smoking. Also always full.

I bet it was full - there is nowhere else to go. Schooner Bar, pub on the Promenade, night club, casino - all smoky.:( When I was on the Liberty Pre-Inaugural, the Schooner Bar was non-smoking (don't know if it still is) and it was jam-packed. It has been the only time in 7 RC cruises that I could enjoy the Schooner Bar.
