Howdy,

I just returned from the Journey from Brisbane to Sydney. It was "Our" first ever cruise. My husband and I are only in our early 50's and we loved it. There was so much to do, I'm now looking to book a longer time so we can do all that is on offer. They had:

  • Tango Dance Classes
  • Cha Cha Dance Classes
  • Informal bridge playing
  • Adult Golf Chipping/Putting
  • Adult Shuffleboard
  • Scavenger Hunt
  • Treasure Quest Art Auctions
  • Quilling
  • Mini Tours of the Ship
  • Table Tennis
  • Bingo (additional cost)
  • Casino
  • Make your own Jewellery (additional cost)
  • Lotus Spa (Massage) etc at (additional cost)
  • At night they had so many different bars/clubs/karaoke, piano bar, comedy shows, it was brilliant!

If none of that interests you, then you can soak up the sun on the deck, swim in the pools. So So many choices of things to do.

We are now looking to book for the April Cruise also from Sydney - Brisbane. I'm sure your folks will love it. We have our 30th wedding anniversary coming up later this year & will do a Pacific Islands Cruise to mark the occassion.

Welcome to CC, glad you enjoyed your taste of the cruising life.

A 10 nighter is 5 times better ;) . And when you run out of activities, there is plenty of eatin' and drinkin' to fill the void.

Oh TRUST me, we did the drinkin/eating thing this time around as well as tried to squeeze in all the activities. Hence we need at least a 10 nighter to ensure we don't miss a thing next time :D

Tossing up between "Dawn Princess" or "Pacific Dawn" for a Pacific Islands Cruise in November this year. Any recommendations?

Thanks sounds great. We did a cruise to some of the Islands last year on Pacific Sun. We are doing the Sun Princess in October which sounds like the one your are thinking of Dawn Princess. I am sure you will enjoy which ever you go on

thanks

We did an Islands cruise on Sun Princess (ship is almost identical to Dawn Princess). Food was awesome, as was pretty much all we participated in. The other plus to an Islands cruise compared to the 2 nighter is that the ship stops at some amazing islands.

I am with Megagirl here. We were looking for a Dawn Princess cruise for next January, and could not pass up the price on Rhapsody of the Seas. Both Dawns are worthwhile options, but while you are checking out your options, ask your T\A about comparison prices on Rhapsody and see which itinerary & price suits you best. Link

In agreement with Geoff and megagirl here too, the Rhapsody prices are great, and are just as cheap in their brochure as online TA's. Had we not have booked the Dawn Princess for January 2009 already, we would be doing one of the Rhapsody cruises...........but as it looks like I will be starting a new job soon, just cant book anymore cruises for a while:(

Some friends of ours went on a cruise on the Pacific Sun last year and loved it so much, decided to book again and take their kids, along with a group of other friends and family. They wanted to book for October, but the PD and PS were booked out, as in, children limits were full. None of the T/As they had contacted suggested the Dawn or Sun Princess or Rhapsody, so I understand you not being aware of it.

Also, just for those who are thinking of booking, there are no children limits on the Phapsody of the Seas, and they have family cabins with two bedrooms, etc, so a good option for families especially the price, and if you are 55 or over you can score a twin cabin for under $1000p/p for a 10 night cruise:eek: ...............

G'day again,

I trust you have enjoyed a nice & Happy Easter?

I spent mine with a nasty virus, however it was a good opportunity to rest & relax. I've been getting some quotes for our next Cruise in particular "Rhapsody Of The Seas" & "Dawn Princess" I was shocked that the final price differences were minimal in the end. I am yet still to find out the difference in the Cat for Cabins & of course understand gratuity. Aahhhhh so much to learn & know. Nothing is simple hey LOL

Rhapsody of the Seas New Caledonia and South Pacific 10 nights.

Price quoted was $3217 per person this is based on a Cat D1 cabin with balcony.

It also includes port and govt taxes and a pre paid staff gratuity.

Dawn Princess 12 nights South Pacific

Price quoted was $3219 per person this is based on a Cat BD balcony cabin.Port and govt taxes are included but not gratuities otherwise as you can see prices are very similar.

These quotes were provided by a Travel Agent & not an online special.

  • Are the discounts with the online bookings?
  • Does it make any difference?
  • Can you negotiate cheaper deals with Travel Agents?

You just have to love us Newbies, Questions, Questions, Questions.

  • Anyone recommend any good Travel Agents in Adelaide?

CHEERS & Happy Easter to all

If you compare the 2 above, it's not cheaper really!

$2 more for 2 extra nights on the "Dawn Princess"

Hubby & I have a few years to go to get 55+ seniors discount.

Thanks for your reply :)
