pepsicruiser Posted February 8, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2008 I've been to Labadee many times but never to Cocoa Cay. What if anything is different between the 2 private islands. Ty
Vividraven Posted February 8, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2008 From what I've heard (having only been to Coco Cay and on my way to Labadee in September), Labadee is more moutain-y and has more foliage. Whereas Coco Cay is like a big beach with palm trees- a typical caribbean oasis......beautiful crystal clear waters (except for the main beach....it tends to look a little murky). Anyway, I highly recommend the wave runner tour if you're into those types of tours...it was fabulous! You're guided around the island which is clustered in between other small islands. One of those islands in particular has some history. There were some drug deals that secretly went down there (as depicted in the movie Blow). Hope this helps a bit! I'm sure others will have some more insight....
cb at sea Posted February 8, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 8, 2008 They are very similar, but not the same scenery! Both are beautiful, in their own way. The activities are about the same. The food is the same, as are the drinks! There are hammocks on both beaches. The largest crowds will be at the 1st beach, on both places! Keep walking if you want to be around fewer people! I love both places--I always try to book cruises that include one or the other!
alwayshappytocruise Posted February 8, 2008 #4 Share Posted February 8, 2008 CocoCay is smaller, I think a little cleaner and not as many people hawking things. Was there in Nov. it doesn't have a zip line but does have waverunners, snorkel and the usual water activities. It does have a small "straw market" where the sellers don't bug/harrass you at all. Has several small little bar areas, one large barbeque area.
