Caribbean Princess Suite - worth it?

DH and I will be doing a Southern Caribbean cruise early next year for our 5th anniversary and are looking at the Caribbean Princess and definitely will be booking a balcony stateroom, but are wondering if the suite would be worth the extra money. We took a Southern Caribbean cruise for our honeymoon and had a suite (on Carnival) and it was SO worth it, but we've never sailed on Princess, so we're not sure of the comparison. Any input between a regular balcony and a suite on the Caribbean Princess would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

We sailed in a full suite on our first Carnival cruise and then did a mini suite on Princess. We find the mini's to be very nice. We like the tub and the extra space of the sitting room. We find the minis to be very nice and feel they are enough for us with out the extra expense of a full suite. I have looked at the full suite and while the bathrooms are very nice with a seperate tub/shower and there are other amenities we don't feel the extra cost is worth it to us.

We are going to try a regular balcony cabin on our upcoming 4 day Princess cruise to see if we don't mind not having the tub or sitting area. We felt this short cruise was the perfect time to try it out.

If you are asking about full suites and not mini suites, here is a link to the Princess site which shows all of the amenities that are associated with the full suites (mini suites do not qualify).

Full Suite Perks

Minis afford you a great cabin and bathroom, but they do not include the luxury perks that go with full suites on Princess.

we've done the Southern Caribbean 3 times with a 4th coming up....1st on the Golden in a mini, 2nd on the Crown in a full suite, 3rd on the Crown in a mini and we are sailing on 3/29 on the Crown again in a mini. I love the full suites and all the amenities that go with it but have to say that with an itinerary that is so full of ports we found that we didn't use the full suite as much as we did the cruise prior in a full suite.

Is it worth it, yes if you use the perks and spend time in the cabin. If you're going to be off the ship then the mini may be the way to go. I'm not a fan of the balcony cabins on Princess only because I prefer the bigger cabin and bigger bathroom but that is because we do spend time in the cabin. If you're not in there much than the balcony may be the way to go.

Good luck deciding and I hope you enjoy the southern route as much as we do.

Thank you all so much for your replies!! We really enjoyed having the extra room (and the tub) with the suite on Carnival, but keep going back and forth as to whether we really *need* this time. Sounds like the mini would be a good compromise since we won't really have too much time in the room. Maybe a full suite when we have more sea days! ;)

Thanks again, now I can cross one thing off my list! LOL

OH, and Whimsy, I would definitely be interested in hearing how you fare with the regular balcony! Thanks!

We've always been in a mini suite on Princess and loved it. This last cruse we were on the CB in the Grand Suite. I can honestly say that I'm now spoiled for life. This was far from a port intensive cruise and we really spent a lot of time in the suite. If I were on a port itensive cruise the mini suite would be wonderful.

The 'compromise' is how we thought of the mini ourselves. Larger than the balcony but not as $$$ as the full suite. I like the tub and DH likes having the sitting area.

Be sure to check out the minis on the Emerald deck. They are covered so if it rains you can still enjoy your balcony. There are debates on whether the covered or exposed balconies are better. Our personal preference is covered and when we are fortunate enough to get E70 or E731 we mark it no upgrades. Those two cabins have the extended balcony.

Yep, that is totally understandable. Once you have stated in the Grand Suite onboard, nothing ever comes close to comparing with it from that day onwards. They are sooooooooooooooo spacious and soooooooooo luxurious.

We have had the priviledge of the Grand Suite once, also. It was so awesome!! Since then, we've had 2 PH suites, and last cruise, the Owner's Suite. I LOVED the Owner's Suite and all the extra room It was worth it to me-totally!! I would, however, be happy with a Mini, except for the non-private balcony.

What is the differance between a Mini Suite and a Veranda suite??:)

Pretty much the same thing. We had a veranda suite on the Noordam on it's 3rd voyage out. The beds are better than Princess as is the furniture on the balcony. We did get lucky. They needed to work on our balcony and Upgraded us to a full suite on the 2nd day.:D

The difference between a full suite and mini suite on Princess is the full suites are a lot larger plus all of the amenities provided (see the link I posted to the Princess website which shows the difference in full suite perks vs very few perks for mini suites below).
