perch59 Posted February 14, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 14, 2008 Going to Barbados for the first time in April. I would like to know what is the highlight of the island and what should we do?? It is our first time cruising. Can't wait to get there and want to see it all!
Captain Sparrow Posted February 15, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2008 One of the most popular things to do in Barbados seams to be the catamaran cruise. Very relaxing, we went on one recently called Small Cats had a great time snorkeling and was very relaxing. They only carry 12 people, it is one of the smaller ones buts it is in pristine condition and they are very organized. We only had 8 on our cruise. The website is http://www.smallcatscruises.com. sandytoes03 Posted February 17, 2008 #5 Share Posted February 17, 2008 We took a ship excursion and went horseback riding. It's still one of my all-time favorite excursions. It was beautiful.
Aplmac Posted February 17, 2008 #6 Share Posted February 17, 2008 Some catamaran coastal cruises also include the very popular Swimming With Turtles! Harrison's Caves is also very popular.
cruiseaholics Posted February 18, 2008 #7 Share Posted February 18, 2008 We're just back from a cruise that included Barbados and without question, I'd recommend Silver Moon Cruises. http://www.oceanadventuresbarbados.com/oai/ There were around 20 of us and we booked privately with the company because we were able to get a longer tour that way. (5 hours vs. 3+ for the ship's tour.) The catamaran was just beautiful - their newest acquisition, Silver Moon III. In fact, we were on the "inaugural" lunch cruise. ;) We had two snorkel stops, one with the turtles and another near the beach with a coral reef. The crew was top notch, especially our Captain (Nick) who owns the company and the lunch was delicious (flying fish, barbecue chicken, macaroni & cheese, salads, warm bread, etc.). Oh, and the unlimited drinks were great too! :D
ccemom Posted February 18, 2008 #8 Share Posted February 18, 2008 We just returned yesterday from our first cruise ever. We took a catamaran sail with Jason O'Neal of Shasa Catamaran tours. It was awesome! His cat only holds 12 people and there were only 8 of us aboard. Jason is a very friendly, out-going captain with a passion for his island. We took the 5 hour cruise, which included snorkeling over a reef, snorkeling with the sea turtles, a swim and a walk on a beach, and a delicious lunch, which consisted of Blue Marlin, chicken, macaroni and cheese, potato salad, green salad and dessert. There was also an unlimited supply of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks throughout the cruise. My friend was very nervous about snorkeling and Jason took her under his wing and taught her how to get over her feeling of claustrophobia. He swam by her side for over 30 minutes, and by that time she was confident enough to go on her own! It was a lovely day and a memorable experience. If you are looking for a more intimate, personalized excursion, then Shasa is for you! Just google Shasa Catamaran, Barbados, to check out his web site! alwalaska Posted February 24, 2008 #9 Share Posted February 24, 2008 We took a ship excursion and went horseback riding. It's still one of my all-time favorite excursions. It was beautiful. Do you remember what tour group this was with, or the name of the excursion or stable or anything? This sounds interesting.
