Hey some of you people need to lighten up. I thought that it was interesting to let people know what NCL was doing. Please don't worry about me. I am checking in with Brittany this afternoon.

I can't believe people took you literally FTLOG

Nah, not today lol. Only got up to 63 today, was 36 when I got up this AM. Yeah, I know, that's not cold. But it is for here. When I have to wear long sleeves I get grumpy. Low Teus. night was 67, last night 36. Sup with that? How about up yonder, still all white?

As for dining Fresstyle or traditional, I can't say whether I like one better than the other. Both have good/bad points. My cure for this will be to sail both lines and experience each at least once a year.

A stellar idea! LOL

As someone that likes to drink on my cruise as well as sit comfortably at the table I'm playing, I'm glad that they don't offer free drinks. The minumum bets on most ships are so low that you would have people betting $1 every couple turns of the roulette wheel (for example) just to drink for free... The place would be full to the brim....then i'd have to wait for a seat... that would totally kill my mood of gambling enjoyment..

have a GREAT time!!! :D

ENOUGH!!!!!

The blisters from the shovel yesterday haven't even hardened!

You know what's good for that now, doncha???? ;)

I havent sailed NCL but I almost did. They tried to gip me out of 500 bucks after final payment saying that I owed them that much more. LOL.

I have asked a couple of times over on the NCL board what freestyle means and the basic answer is that you get to eat when you want. Ok. But what does freestyle mean? LOL I cant get an answer. I cant figure out why NCL would spend so much money on advertising to let people know they can eat when they want. There has to be somehting more to it right? Maybe someone here can help?

Freestyle means you can show up at the free dining rooms at any time during the meal time dressed resort casual. Big difference for example is that if you arrive after 6:30 pm you will have to wait in line for a table to be free just as you would at Applebees. When I went they offered free drinks in the casino but at very limited times. They also offered free arcade games during limited am hours. The trick is to lure people in then start to charge just like a happy hour. Nothing is really free. I am sure you are paying for it another way.

I can honestly say that I have never waited for a meal on NCL, we have dined at different times and were always seated immediatley. I guess we were just lucky since many people complain about the wait.

I heard the same bull crap about Princess anytime dining also. We had a party of six and never waited either. Guess we were just lucky too:D

Don't get me wrong I have been on 12 Carnival cruises with 3 booked right now but I just got off a 5 day NCL Pearl cruise. Drinks were FREE in the casino every day from 6PM to closing as long as we were at sea. Its about time they started feeding into our addictions.

Wouldn't do anything for me.

I don't drink that much ... one or two a day and not everyday on vacation. (And change a day to week when not on vacation.)

I enjoy slots but found when I was on the Ecstasy that if I went early, I had the place almost to myself. Unfortunately when the casino started getting more crowded in late afternoon, it also got so smokey I couldn't stay. I suppose if I had enough alchohol I wouldn't notice my asthma acting up from the smoke. (This was the only time I had problems with smoke was if I went in the casino when it was busy.)

First post by the OP, bet they never come back? A little harsh to jump on them for being addicted to alchol, when it was probably a figure of speech.

Im feeling sorry for the OP, welcome to CC, people take every word seriously and run with it to be funny sometimes too. Ill bet almost everyone here would take free drinks if they were offered.

Actually, she's been around since 2001 and has almost 300 posts. But I've done that too -- looked at messages and saw the #1 up at the top and thought first post until I looked again.

But I agree with you on the main point. The OP did not say she had an addiction. "Its about time they started feeding into our addictions." To me, that's just a figure of speech and I didn't make anything more of it.

Kurb, don't believe it. You'll love NCL. In 15 nights on that ship, we waited ONE time for 10 minutes..and we ate all different times of the evening.

If you meet people on the ship and hit it off, you can join them for dinner. The spontaneity is GREAT.

I will say the service lacks, but not enough to ruin it completely. I've had waiters that weren't too hot on a Traditional ship as well (ironically it was my Celebrity cruise...go figure)

Point is...I read all this negativity about NCL and had the best time ever.

Had read all this praise about Celebrity and it was a nice cruise certainly, but not up to all the hype.

Bottom line is you just don't know til you try it yourself.

This is where This get a little gray for me. I don't know if its such a great idea to keep feeding people liquor while they gamble there money away. We are adults yes, but I have seen drunk people in the casino making bad bets and do stupid things with there SS cards. When Im playing cards after a few days the pit boss 9 times out of 10 will offer to buy us a drink. I don't think anything is wrong with that in fact I think its a nice thing to do. I think Carnival is looking for a problem if they keep feeding people liquor. Just IMO

LOL! I don't believe it! People on here said the same thing about Princess and I found out it wasn't true. We almost didn't sail Princess because of the of the posts that it had only old people sailing on it and that everything closed down around 9 or 10. Total myth lol.

Although when we were on Princess we were with a group, I love the idea of meeting people during the cruise and being able to sit with them at dinner. I'm not a big fan of the cruise lines choosing who I eat with and then trying to get thru dinner with silly small talk knowing I won't see these people again until next dinner lol!

Can't wait to try NCL......but it's looking like land vacations are getting the votes in our family this time around.....and maybe a short Elation cruise this summer.:D

You don't go to Vegas very often do you lol! That's the whole idea!! Feed the people liquor and they get brave and bet more.....

Not sure if ya remember we were planning on NCLA Hawaii in May for daughter in laws graduation. Had to wait until we found out when her finals were so we had a date. Day late and dollar short. They are pulling another ship out and the prices went sky high on the remaining ship:(

Soooo we will be staying on Waikiki beach and the North shore instead.

Our family goes thru withdrawls if we can't go to Hawaii once a year.

But we are looking into Gallows Point on St. John. Have you heard of it? It is a all suite resort across from Cruz Bay. Got some great info from a cc member. Trying to figure out flights. Airfare is a killer for us.

If it all works out we won't be able to cruise this year. Unless of course I get a great locals deal on the Elation:D I hear about them but never seen them out here.....

They have some killer deals out of Florida....that won't work for me.....

Are you doing a dude ranch? We were invited to a dude ranch in Montana a couple years ago. But we couldn't make it. It sounded like a lot of fun though. Montana is beautiful!!!

OP sorry for the hijack......

I've only sailed one carnival cruise and I've been looking at NCL for the next one- but I have to say I DON'T like this- "Free" or not, you're paying for them, and as a non-drinker (I had 2 drinks on an 8 day cruise, and thats 2 more than I've had in the past 3 years), I don't want to subsidize someone elses drinking!

I'm a latitudes member and enjoy cruising on NCL as well as many other lines.

But what should Carnival learn from NCL? How to be marginally profitable, or not at all. Or how to be owned by a Chinese Company, Star Cruiseline?

What they really could learn is how to BS the US Congress into granting Passenger Services Act waivers like NCL has done. That's a marketable skill!
