Carnival needs to learn from NCL

LOL! I don't believe it! People on here said the same thing about Princess and I found out it wasn't true. We almost didn't sail Princess because of the of the posts that it had only old people sailing on it and that everything closed down around 9 or 10. Total myth lol.

Although when we were on Princess we were with a group, I love the idea of meeting people during the cruise and being able to sit with them at dinner. I'm not a big fan of the cruise lines choosing who I eat with and then trying to get thru dinner with silly small talk knowing I won't see these people again until next dinner lol!

Can't wait to try NCL......but it's looking like land vacations are getting the votes in our family this time around.....and maybe a short Elation cruise this summer.:D

You don't go to Vegas very often do you lol! That's the whole idea!! Feed the people liquor and they get brave and bet more.....

LOL No, I have never been to Las Vegas. I want to get out there just to see Las Vegas, and in a strange way just to see what a desert looks like

Las Vegas (or Lost Wages Nevada as we call it) is definitely a must see view.. When the Sun comes up over the desert mountains in the morning , and then when it goes down at nibht and the city lights up.... a must see.... I f you go try and have a day time flight in, and a night flight out if you can.....great views! Theres alot more to do than just gamble...I think everyone should at least give Vegas a shot

When you enter the casino with a couple hundred dollars of chips, just go up to the pit boss and ask him if he will buy your drinks while you throw away your money. About a third of the time he will say yes.

Again, this works as long as you have a couple hundred dollars worth of chips in hand. We have found this to hold true on most of the cruise lines we have sailed on including Carnival.

So, in that scenario, the drinks are still not 'free'.. You're paying for them, one way or the other.

Kinda like when people get all excited about 'hitting the $500 jackpot' on the slot machine that they put more than $1500 into from playing it all day. When you point this out to them, they don't really want to hear it.. ; )

I have to get out there and see the city at night from the desert. I told my wife instead of a cruise one year we will fly to Las Vegas. Im sure if we fly from Newark NJ we can get a great price on air

I absolutely love the desert! Yes you have to visit Vegas at least once in your lifetime. Although we have a habit of visiting about 4 times a year:D

We will be there next weekend as a matter of fact. But it works out well for us....only a hour flight (or 3 hr. drive) rooms and meals are always compt, and let's not forget the free drinks so it's worth it for us.

We sailed NCL in Jan. first time since 1995. Enjoyed freestyle much more than we thought we would. We never had to wait in the main dining room and made reservations at the specialty restaurants very easily. We ate at two pay restaurants and one non pay. The very best part was disembarking. We waited in our cabin and just walked off the ship to our luggage that was in the warehouse by decks. CARNIVAL TAKE NOTE! While you're at it: ROYAL CARRIBEAN AND PRINCESS TAKE NOTE TOO!

I agree. Disembarking like that was icing on the cake after a wonderful cruise.:)

Don't get me wrong I have been on 12 Carnival cruises with 3 booked right now but I just got off a 5 day NCL Pearl cruise. Drinks were FREE in the casino every day from 6PM to closing as long as we were at sea. Its about time they started feeding into our addictions.

Free drinks at a casino is not a new concept...Look at Vegas, if you are a good customer they will give you a free room and more!

What's going on here? Are these casino people just generous or is it something else? Gosh, how do they make a profit?

Trust me, Las Vegas casinos are not losing money.. it seems that a new mega-resort/casino goes in there about every month..

Back in the sixties, Las Vegas used to run flights on charters from all over the country. You would fly out for a 3 day stay. Room would be comped, food would be comped, drinks would be comped, and the rt flight was comped.

How did you get on one of these flights? You just had to show $2000.00 or more CASH to board the plane. No commitment to play for even a minute, but they knew, if you're there and have the money in your pocket, it would end up in theirs.

I am one of those that get my rooms/meals compt in Vegas, Laughlin and some of the Indian casinos in Calif.:o (one of the indian casinos I play at is linked to some of the hotels in Vegas and Laughlin)

It is determined by your players card. They look at time played on your card. When you hit certain points that's when the comps come into play.

Believe me you don't have to spend alot of money to qualify. I have spent hours on some machines without loosing any money.

The ones that spend the big bucks get the nicer rooms compt with alot of extras.........

I love the narrow minds on these boards...gives me a good chuckle everytime!

Nothing like taking the OP's original question/point and turning it into a "Carnival is better than Norwegian" debate! Even more entertaining is the amount of bashing that comes from folks who have never even cruised NCL! Priceless. :D
