Celebrity gave us champagne on formal night when we attended the broadway production and waiters were outside offering free hot pea soup in a bread bowl while viewing Hubbard Glacier; NCL had a fabulous chocoholic buffet; RCCL nothing much.

Our fourth cruise will be on HAL Westerdam to Alaska in May. What type of perks can me and my dh hope for? Especially curious to know about afternoon tea.

There is afternoon tea everyday around 3:30 -- there will also be one Royal Dutch Tea one day - usually on the last formal day.

 

Hubbard Glacier -- yes there will be Dutch Pea Soup served on the Prominade Deck and sometimes on the aft Rotterdam Deck by the pool. Sometimes there will be speciality coffees offered -- catch -- you have to pay for them.

 

There is free champgane on the first formal night at the Captain's Welcome Aboard Toast.

 

There is Dessert Extravaganza one night which will include CHOCOLATE - usually the last formal night.

I see that you are sailing on May 18 on the Westerdam -- are you sure that you are going to Hubbard Glacier?

This is one of the most significant plusses we experienced on Noordam versus Royal Caribbean: They kept a basket of fruit filled in our cabin all cruise long.

Yes, we are visiting Glacier Bay on the Westerdam-the pea soup they served us was in 2004 when we were in Hubbard Glacier. Your replies are fantastic-just what I was hoping for!
