Victoria Excursion w/12 yr old boy

I have to tell a funny story. My son was 12 (almost 13) when we were in Victoria a few summers ago. We visited Victoria as a day trip from Vancouver, and the last place we stopped before taking the ferry back to Vancouver was Butchart Gardens. The admission for 12-year-olds was only $2. My son wasn't interested in seeing the gardens, so he said he'd give us $2 if we'd let him stay in the car! :) We made him go into the gardens, but I don't think he stopped to smell the roses!

I'm not sure what will be open at night - but if the Royal BC Museum has evening hours - your son might enjoy some of the exhibits there. They had a dinosaur exhibit when we visited.

We were there a couple of years ago also from 6 p.m. to midnight. We took the most amazing sunset whale watching trip to see the Orcas. It was one of the best excursions we have ever done. My son was 12 and my daughter was 7 and they absolutely loved it. The Orcas were so beautiful, we saw them all around the boat. It was a memorable experience!

This can be a great option, but the cruiseline excursions are an hour shorter than the regular tours. None run late enough for cruise ship visitors. So the orcas have to be right in a tight range to see them, which they will have a higher chance on not, with the hour less.
