cb at sea Posted February 22, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 22, 2008 It depends on what insurance you need! Travel insurance, Medical add-ons, etc...
scubaholic Posted February 22, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted February 22, 2008 I would normally buy an annual multitrip travel insurance and want to know if that will do?
jlp20 Posted February 22, 2008 #4 Share Posted February 22, 2008 Do I need special insurance or will normal travel insurance do?Nat  Be sure your policy covers medical outside the U.S. Your standard medical insurance that you have at home is only effective within the U.S. borders. If you are unable to make the cruise, are all aspects covered; airfare, prebooked hotels, excursions etc. Try: http://insuremytrip.com/ Quick, free and you may find something that applies only to you. The OP is from the UK. The annual plans available in the UK should be adequate as long as they cover all of your needs. Remember that there's a couple of unique risks to cruising: #1 If you miss the ship because of airline delays there will be expenses involved in catching up with the ship as well as the value of any missed days. So be sure the policy you selevt covers this. #2 An emergency evacuation from a ship can be quite costly so, again, bwe sure the policy covers that also. But as far as most other plan benefits such as trip cancellation there's really no differences just because this is a cruise.
