Checking out of ship

Recommended Posts

They assign you colors the night before according to your flight times. There is a certain time everyone hase to check out of their rooms. There will be designated areas for you to stay until they call your color off the ship. The whole process usually takes an hour or two from the time you arrive in port.

The ship may get into the port at 6:30am,but that doesnt mean thats when you will get off......they have to go thru the Customs/Immigration process first.(and get all the luggage off)

You have to be out of your cabin by 8am........and wait for your color tag to be called...........you should be off the ship by 10ish....maybe a little later(depending on the ship size)......

If you're planning on sticking around, and having a relaxing morning--it ain't gonna happen! The last morning is NOT what you've gotten used to all week! It's a "hurry-up" atmosphere--they WANT you to go, so they can get ready for a whole new batch of passengers!

If you have an early flight, let them know about mid-week, and you'll be in one of the 1st groups off!

I am going on my first cruise in May on Enchantment. I see that on the last day we arrive in port at 6:30 am. Is this the time that we actually leave the ship or is there a later "check-out" time?

The time that debarkation actually begins can vary from cruise to cruise, port to port. It definitely will not start until CBP officials come on duty. We have been off the ship as early as 7:30 on some cruises and an hour or two later on others. They do try to arrange departure times to meet guest's travel requirements and those who have early flights will usually get the earliest colors, while those who are staying locally after the cruise or who are driving home from the port usually are the last to be called. You don't have to rush off the ship as soon as your color is called, unless your travel schedule requires you to do so, but since the next week's guests can't board until the ship has been cleared of the past week's guests, you should be mindful of that fact and not linger onboard any longer than necessary. It's an unfortunate fact of life, but when your cruise is over, it is over and trying to prolong it really doesn't help very much.:(
