lea Posted March 5, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 5, 2008 Can anyone give me any information on the sauna and steam room availability? On my recent carnival cruises they were always available at no additional cost, but I haven't heard the same about that on RC. We have several sea days coming up on the Grandeur and it would be great to know if we could take advantage of that on our trip. Thanks.

danajjj Posted March 5, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 5, 2008 Funny, I was just thinking about this the other day. Are there steam rooms on any of the ships?

danajjj Posted March 5, 2008 #5 Share Posted March 5, 2008 Yes they are open to everyone and very nice. Do you know if all the ships have them?
teese Posted March 5, 2008 #6 Share Posted March 5, 2008 I know all the Radiance, Voyager and Freedom class have them. I haven't sailed on the others.
Rare BecciBoo Posted March 5, 2008 #7 Share Posted March 5, 2008 I've never used them but have gone in to photograph them. THey are super facilities on the Liberty and Freedom and hardly anyone is ever in there!
pinkrosesdeb Posted March 5, 2008 #8 Share Posted March 5, 2008 There is no charge for the sauna or steam rooms. There are showers in there also and towels will be on the wall as you enter. On Radiance class ships, they also have the thermal suite for which there is a charge. It has the warm lounge chairs in front of windows facing the ocean, very nice but we didn't use it enough to make it worth the cost. They still have a free sauna and steam in the ladie's dressing room too though.
danajjj Posted March 5, 2008 #9 Share Posted March 5, 2008 Sounds wonderful!! Does anyone know if the Enchantment has a steam room?:D
Sequim88 Posted March 5, 2008 #10 Share Posted March 5, 2008 Are there seperate facilities in each locker room is there a gender "shared" sauna or steamroom? Mostly interested in Radiance class. To use them my wife would require assistance. Also...if seperate what's the "dress code"? Towel, wrap, swimsuit or whatever??? :o
pinkrosesdeb Posted March 5, 2008 #11 Share Posted March 5, 2008 They are actually in the gender specific locker rooms so no shared ones unless you pay for the thermal suite on the Radiance class. Those are open to either. In the locker rooms, I have seen all of the above, towels, bathing suits, nothing! I wear my bathing suit.
RetireeWannabee Posted March 5, 2008 #12 Share Posted March 5, 2008 Regardless of what you do or don't wear, it is common to lay a towel down to sit or lay on. It's a hygiene matter.
caszos1 Posted March 5, 2008 #13 Share Posted March 5, 2008 Does any one know if Enchantment specifically has these? Where are they located? I read in the locker rooms but what locker rooms? In the gym, the pool, the spa??
pinkrosesdeb Posted March 6, 2008 #14 Share Posted March 6, 2008 They are typically in the gym/spa area. On Voyager class they are right next to the indoor whirlpool. On Radiance class they were in the restroom area outside the gym in the hallway before you get to the thermal suite.
sexyaznboy Posted March 6, 2008 #15 Share Posted March 6, 2008 The thermal suite is pay, right? Do you get a steamroom with more privacy? I'm kinda shy :p
wrp96 Posted March 6, 2008 #16 Share Posted March 6, 2008 I'm kinda shy :p I can tell that by your screen name.;) The thermal suite you have to pay for which tends to limit the people that use it.

pinkrosesdeb Posted March 6, 2008 #18 Share Posted March 6, 2008 I have never found a crowd in either room pay or not. Many times I am the only one in the sauna or the steam room. I hope that people put towels down but that is honestly not what I have seen sometimes. I always take MY towel with me just in case!

RetireeWannabee Posted March 7, 2008 #22 Share Posted March 7, 2008 Ewww! Are ya'll trying to keep the steam rooms uncrowded?!:D dang it, you're on to me!!! Nah, actually, just trying to keep people healthy. At our health club, one of my friends reported that her husband had sat without towel in the men's steam room to find that someone had squirted the eucalyptus on the bench. He will forever more use a towel.

lmurf Posted January 24, 2009 #24 Share Posted January 24, 2009 Any information about steam/sauna for men on the Monarch? :)
satxdiver Posted January 24, 2009 #25 Share Posted January 24, 2009 I always use the steam room after a workout. The voyageur class has some really nice ones that are spacious located in the restroom. I have never seen anyone else in there while I was there. They have three showers nearby that are normal size and nicer than the phone booth type in the cabins. Towels and soap are provided. No matter what you wear or don't wear, it is proper hygiene to sit on a towel. In naturalists facilities, it is considered extremely rude to not sit on a towel and could be reason for expulsion. Please use a towel which is provided in the shower/restrooms. They do have lockers available. The water sauna is shared.
