nicole9s Posted March 5, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 5, 2008 On Century upon embarkation, is lunch only served at the buffet, or is the dining room open as well? On the last cruise I was on, the dining room was open, however everyone was being encouraged to go up to the buffet. Had I not read that the dining room was open (on CC of course) then I would have gone right up there too! Sorry if this is a redundant question, darn you disabled search function! hajekfam Posted March 5, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 5, 2008 I believe that only the buffet is open on Celebrity. The dining room is sometimes open for back to back guests with a special menu - it depends on the number of back to back-ers or it could also be open for a special function such as a travel agent luncheon. Did they tell you the dining room is open or did you just happen to notice it open?
nicole9s Posted March 5, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted March 5, 2008 on the last cruise (NCL), I had read before departing that the dining room would be open for lunch and not to listen to everyone directing you to the buffet. I have no problem with eating at the buffet, I just don't like having to schlep my carry-ons with me :)
dkjretired Posted March 5, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 5, 2008 Also, occasionally they have a wedding reception in the dining room prior to sailing.
CatServants Posted March 5, 2008 #5 Share Posted March 5, 2008 nicole9s - Since you (and I ;)) don't like dealing with our darn carry-ons in the buffet, you should know that often (NOT always), if you check your cabin/cabin attendant, you can drop off your carry-on in your cabin, then go on your merry way. You should keep in mind, however, that your bag will be in an open cabin, so if you're security minded.... Happy cruising! Denise

You can tell if he is done as the door will be closed if the room is finished. If he is still fixing up the rooms, the door will usually be left open. If the room isn't finished we look for him in nearby cabins and let him know that we dropped our stuff off. We also set up the safe and leave our valuables in there. Schplinky Posted March 6, 2008 #7 Share Posted March 6, 2008 when we were on Enchantment the last time, there was a large group of travel agents on the ship, havig lunch. They were just on for a day visit.
rolfecms Posted March 7, 2008 #8 Share Posted March 7, 2008 How late is lunch served on embarkation day? Is it the same as normal hours or something else? We arrive mid-afternoon and will not have eaten on the plane ride so I'm sure we'll be hungry!
crazybus Posted March 7, 2008 #9 Share Posted March 7, 2008 Celebrity usually has the buffet open as soon as people start boarding. Be it early or later. The dining room is open but not for eating, there is usually a line in there for changing dinner tables and what not. Drop your carry-ons in your cabin and head to the buffet line.
