Costa Club 5% Booking Discount?

Yes, we got 5% off the cheapest brochure price. It didn't show up as a discount, just the price paid. My sister paid the full price for her cabin as she hasn't sailed Costa before so I know we definitely got the discount. You have to ask for it though. Some cruises are worth more than 5% and if you go to the Costa site and then into CostaClub, you will find the list of sailings (I know it is there on the UK site).

For those of you who are members of the Costa Club, have you ever received the 5% booking discount? Does the 5% discount show up on your booking receipt? How do you know that you received the discount?

Always received my Costa Club discount (5%), only the net price of the cruise shows up on booking receipt.

If you are a Costa Club member and are registered on line, then when looking at / booking cruise prices the 5% is automicately takeoff (try it out, first the price without logging in and then with logging in), here I am talking about Costa Germany.

Also most specialist Internt cruise TAs here in Germany have a field for the Costa Club number.

What I do is find the Internet TA that shows the best calculation and discount (normally discount or a credit that is posted to ypur onboard account) then I go to my local TA personally saying what cruise I wish to book and what I am willing to pay (i.e. the amount that it would cost me booking via the Internet). If the local TA wants my business that he give me the Internet price . if not I would go home and book online. Sofar it has never failed. Normally it is another 3 to 4%.

Of course the 5% discount is not applied to the fuel surcharge.

After 2 sailings with Costa I am already at Coral. I guess all those spa treatments helped. Anyway, I called because I did not know and was curious to see if I got it. I was told no I did not because it is 5% off brochure only which they called "prontoprice". I am going to call again and ask another person because as I have learned through reading these boards different CS agents give different answers.

The CS agent Hilda said You get the lowest price, 5% of brochure or cheapest available rate. My understanding was 5% off what ever rate.

Am I wrong? I may be. Anyone know?

Ron,

I tried the looking at the price just going to the site, then logging in. There was no difference in price. I am in the US so it could be different.

I see you are using Costa Germany, your english is perfect, are you from Germany or just live there?

Try costacruises.co.uk although once you enter your details, it may revert to the US site.

Tracey

Tracy you are correct, Costa will always revert you back to the Costa site where you are reigistered, i.e. I am registered by costa.de, if I try to login in in costa.co.uk it will redirect me to costa.de.

Trish,

You must be registered as a User with Costa.com and also have your Costa Club No. registered, if so then when you look at prices the 5% discount will already have been deducted - see attached. At least that's how it works with Costa Germany.

My DMiL says I speak 3 languages, German, English and Rubbish and the last one is my mother tonque.:(

Ron,

I will check my online registration to see if my Costa Club number is registered when I get home from work. I called Costa again today and was told the Kids sail free promotion is better than the 5% discount. I really can't imagin a better deal than I already have. The line would go broke if they sold cabins cheeper than I paid.

Thanks for the help!!!

The 5 % is off of their brochure price which is always way more than any TA or other internet site is asking. Their special deals (like kids free, andiamo early booking rate, seniors rates, canadian sale rate) always seem less than the 5% discount)

In Europe (I'm talking about UK and Germany) the 5% Club discount applies either to the Catalogue, Pronto Price (UK) or Bonus Price (Germany) which is the discounted early booking price on Costa web sites or the best price available.

In Europe I have not found any specials rates (i.e. senior, teachers, military, kids sail free etc.) the only thing I have seen is that kids sail for Euro 150 when sharing parents cabin.

I can normally get another 3% to 5% discount from the TA (from his margins) based on the final price of the cruise, but one has to be prepared to barter as in a bazaar.

Ron,

Here (US), they have the kids sail free all the time which you don't get the 5% off on. Or at least thats what I have concluded after 3 phone calls. With kids sell free pricing I can sell in a veranda for about $2000 for the 4 of us. I have tried to get travel agents to "find" a better price. After reading some of your post about Costa UK, Costa Germany and Costa Canada I started looking at those sites. I have been trying to compare the pricing. So far, I see the US pricing has better deals. BUT, I have only beend doing this for a week or two.

I do have to say I was suprised at the differences between all the countries websites. I live on the internet and think I am pretty computer savey. I have now learned that what I know is such a small part of the big WORLD WIDE WEB. My students and I now use Google Japan because the filtering system in our school district does not stop us from getting pictures there. It does if we use google here. SHHHHHHH!! Don't tell because they'll block that now.

I've been looking a at Costa Far East cruise recently. The UK TA's I've contacted, online or by phone, give the 5% Costa club discount, a further discount at their own discression, and maybe a bit more if you booked with them before.

I was happy enough with the initial price but haven't had to work too hard to be at almost 10% off the whole package, including flights to Hong Kong and transfers. Still trying to squeeze a bit more though......you always have a good chance when they say "call back if you beat our price"......

Further to my earlier post, I settled at 11.5% discount and it's booked!! Still think I may have got a little bit more but my patience ran out....

Pujro,

Good for you, did you also book the X1 package?.

Hi Ron, apologies for the delayed reply, I haven't been on here for a while.

Yes, we're happy with the discount, and only a small payment up front makes it easier to manage.

To be honest I haven't checked the drinks packages properly, but we tend to drink spirits, and the packages seem to target wine and/or beer. Unless anyone knows otherwise?

Cheers
