NancyIL Posted September 25, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2004 I'm considering a New Zealand/Australia Princess cruise in April 2006 that arrives in Sydney on Good Friday. I want to spend several days exploring Sydney, but wonder if everything will be closed on Easter Sunday, as most places are in the US.
Aussie Gal Posted September 26, 2004 #2 Share Posted September 26, 2004 When you arrive on Good Friday you will find everything to be closed. That and Christmas Day are the two days in Australia that everything closes down. On Easter Sunday, I am sure some of the city shops will be open and also the Sydney Royal Show will be on. Ferries will be working and you will be able to go to Tooronga Park Zoo. The shops in the suburbs will all be closed. Jennie
NancyIL Posted September 26, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted September 26, 2004 Thanks, Jennie. Yet another reason to start in Sydney and end in NZ (as you suggested) 12 days earlier.
NancyIL Posted September 27, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted September 27, 2004 Thanks, Jennie. Yet another reason to start in Sydney and end in NZ (as you suggested) 12 days earlier. After having posted this, I looked at earlier Australia/NZ cruise dates, and the 3 previous cruises fall during at least one of my 3 kids' spring breaks! I'd have to cruise Feb. 13-25 to avoid being gone during my kids' vacations, and that is much earlier than I want to go. So...looks like IF I go on this cruise, it will be on the Diamond Princess - April 2-14, 2006. :)
