We made it to Ft Lauderdale!!!

Finally...at 2:00 AM!!! We're at the Embassy Suites and hoping that we don't have to evacuate. They just don't know yet. We had called ahead and added the two extra nights to our reservation and they said we can stay even if we lose power, as long as they don't evacuate!! Just left a message for our TA to see what an upgrade to a Balcony would cost!! We're hoping this thing swings north a little so we don't have to go to a shelter. We can't find any "inland" hotels available. We were trying to make a "tentative" reservation, in case we have to evacuate. So...we're just "hanging out" and making the best of the situation!!!!

Just talked to the TA. She said that Princess is not allowing anybody currently booked to "upgrade" or letting anybody on the manifest to cancel and rebook at the new rates. She said to try to upgrade at the ship. She didn't really understand their thinking other than trying to fill the ship and thinking maybe they'd have better luck filling the higher rooms. She said lots of people are complaining about Princess' 30% refund and re-booking discount offer but she didn't know if they would change it. So far so good here with the weather....pretty wiindy and sprinkling a little. Hopefully, we'll just catch the "bottom edge" and won't have to evacuate!!! The hotels are full so....we would have to "experience" the shelter. If so, oh well!!! All of the luggage we have is what worries me!!! What would we do with it all!!! It would take up half the shelter! There's 8 of us and about 22 suitcases!!!

You have such a wonderful attitude about your situation. Just go with the flow. Tomorrow at this time, it will be a thing of the past.............an experience you can talk about when you get home. Enjoy your cruise!

good luck to you! One thing about shelters tho..with a lot of them, you can't come and go as you please......so unless conditions get really bad, you may want to stay out of the shelters so you can go where and when you wish.

See you all on the ship!!!!! Just talked to some other CB cruisers downstairs and they're OK with our "settlement"....not that they wouldn't take any more if Princess offers it though!! YIPPEE!!!
