Just stayed there a few weeks ago, pre-cruise.... on Thursday, 2/21 and Friday 2/22 - 8th floor. Decent room, very clean and no noise. Post cruise on the 4th floor, same experience. We really didn' t have any problems whatsoever checking in/out, etc. We would definitely stay there again.....nice location. Don't recommend their dining room.....slow serivce and overpriced for what you get - we are foodies, though.

I've stayed there three times in the last five years. Most recently just four weeks ago. We stay there because you can't beat the location if you like to go out in Old San Juan. We enjoy being able to walk out into OSJ and have great food and bar hop and then walk back to the Sheraton. The rooms are pretty average, but not much different from my experience at the Marriott and Condado Plaza. I know there can be some noise issues if your room is an outside room on the backside of the hotel. You'll hear some of the activity at Senor Frogs. We had an inside room and heard nothing.

If you happen to embark at OSJ Pier 4, then you can essentially walk from the Sheraton right to the ship which we did two years ago with no problem.

My biggest complaint about the hotel is that it only has two elevators. So I would definitely get out of your room well before checkout time if you don't want to wait forever for an elevator. We've experienced that problem at the Condado Plaza as well.

As for the amenities. The rooftop pool is small, but the views of the ships/piers is excellent. There is a restaurant in the hotel, but we never eat there since there is so much more to offer just a couple of blocks away including a Starbucks for the wife in the morning. There is also a small casino to take your money.

My favorite thing about the Sheraton is their Sleeper beds. I melt right into them.

Overall, I would pick this hotel for location, location, location if your enjoy the nightlife in Old San Juan and the ability to enjoy the tourist sites and shopping during the day. It's also within reasonable walking distance of a Walgreens and Supermax grocery store. I would not expect the best service anywhere in the hotel or in any hotel in San Juan. I've experienced three different hotels and they have been the same. Everyone is on "Island Time".

We've stayed three times since June and my one huge complaint is the very loud noise from Senor Frogs. We use our Starwood points so I can't complain, but the rooms they give us are always right above Senor Frogs. Sometimes the very loud partying goes on until 4 o'clock in the morning. Once we were upgraded to a suite which was a regular two double bed room with small additional room with a sofa and tv.

Even though it can be loud, we won't stay anywhere else in OSJ because the Sheraton is so convenient to everything.

Two weeks ago, we stayed two nights at the Sheraton Old San Juan after a Celebrity cruise. We had never been to OSJ and wanted to take some time to explore this city. We thought the Sheraton was in a perfect location. I liked being directly on the waterfront with the brick-path "boardwalk" just steps away. It was also just a 3 short block walk to Fort San Cristobal (which we enjoyed exploring just as much as El Morro). The Sheraton is also just a block from the tolley stop (which we used now and then). The Parrot Club (again just two short blocks away) had great lunch food. If saving money is an issue, there is even a Burger King just 2 short blocks away.

We were there on a weekend, so it was crazy busy at checkout time, but we just did express checkout and were in a taxi within 10 minutes. I thought the room was the plainest room in which I have ever stayed; but it was clean with a window overlooking the waterfront. We were directly across from an elevator, and that did cause some noise issues in the evening.

I agree that I wouldn't eat in the hotel restaurant; however, we did have a burger at the Chicago Burger Co, in the hotel and it was good.

Right before going to bed our last night, we decided to check out the casino. Put in $20 in a slot machine and came away with $200. So, even though some people say the machines are really tight - someone now and then does win a little.

The Night Tales walk that you probably have read about on these boards also leaves from the Sheraton and the tour person will also walk you back to the Sheraton at the end of the walk. I enjoyed seeing the city lit up at night and the history was somewhat interesting. I went more to see the city at night as I was afraid to go out by myself. However, I was surprised as to how many people were just out and about at night - jogging, walking their dogs, eating at the many outside tables at the many little cafes. It appeared to be a relatively safe, fun place to be at night.

Thanks for your input.

How much was the taxi ride from the pier to the hotel?

We are sailing out of San Juan at the end of November. Can anyone tell me how much the Sheraton runs a night? Also does anyone know which pier the Adventure of the Seas sails from and how far it is from the Sheraton?

Thanks,

Gary

The Adventure sails out of the Pan American Pier (I think that is what it is called) which in NOT in Old San Juan.

Here is the info that a pp had posted:

Taxi for four of us from the airport to the hotel was $25 and from the hotel to the pier was $15 including tip.

For rates at the Sheraton I would go to their website, seems to have the best pricing I have found.

Greetings..

We are sailing out of San Juan on the Serenade in Nov. and booked two suites with balconies some friends of ours are going on their honeymoon.

Has anyone been in a suite? We've heard about the noise from the bars and we usually are light sleepers. Also, the website has specials, such as AAA rates. We booked there and got some great rates.

Thanks..

Wolf
