Has anyone stayed at the Radisson at the port? We'll be on the Freedom in September/October and it looks like Radisson is the closest

We've stayed there twice and love it. We always get the park pass so that we can keep the car there all week. You also get 2 free breakfast buffets with each room. We are planning to stay again in June.

Does anyone know the length of one lap on Freedom's jogging track?
Good question. Have to use it early though or you'll have to run around people. Edited by Wisdom

Everyone on this ship.... check the rates.... all this ship did was to decrease their fares, I got mine today I saved well over 500.00 for two, yep that much and last month it dropped even more. so you see you got to call and also notify who you paid your trip to. THEY MUST give you a Refund, no questions, even if your ship leaves This Sunday!! I was told this recently.

I saw the rates on this ship yesterday notified my agent and she gave me a credit. we saved quite a bit since we paid top $$ for our inside cabin and I was very much surprised that everyone is not complaining about this? I did I work hard but I felt that I was overpriced for an inside cabin, not like that person who was charged 400.000.00 for his on the new Oasis.

Dect phones were available on the 3/22 sailing of FOS. I saw many people with them. But I have also heard that they can run out.

Fran those walky talkie phones are so cheap you can buy your own and keep tabs on the kids, we did this to keep tabs of our friends who are in their 60's they are older than we but we know how much they love to gamble found them at the casino most of the cruise but wanted to keep tabs on them anyways overall we had a better time without them...

Thanks, TandTMom...............

I wonder if my friend is "confused". It is their first RCCL cruise, and she just said they don't have them anymore. Anyone who goes between now and 6/21, please let me know!

if you said from pt canaveral to st. thomas st. maarten you go to coco cay... only at Freedom the next stop back is home pt. canaveral then the Freedom leaves again for Jamacia Coco Cay and Grand Cayman. So that is what I know.

so is that what you are asking?

Last year we went to the carnivals ship enjoyed it the food was excellent., then we booked a mariner of the seas also about 4 months later the food was not as good as the carnival was. why is that? you go figure you are on a better ship you get better food, is it because that Carnival is a CocaCola company owner or is it because of Pepsi company is Royal Caribbean owners?

I felt that the care from each ship is different. The care I got on RCCL is better but the food was awful.

The steak was hard as nails. I ate alot of salads and soups for the 7 days. I did not like the other foods either. I ate alot of bread to survive.

What is a person to do?

thanks

I just book FOS for April 2010. I know it is a VERY long way off :( but I am still excited. We will be driving to Port Canaveral so does anyone have any suggestions on where to stay the night before the cruise? Thanks

We have stayed at The Radisson, as well as The Country Inns and Suites (right next door to The Rad.),The Sheraton 4 points and The Coco Beach Hampton Inn. Of those, I liked the Sheraton the best. BUT beware, the "pool" is the size of a Honda Accord. However, we live in Tampa and have a pool, so that isn't such a bad thing. It is also within walking distance to the beach, as is the Hampton Inn. The Rad. is getting very worn, the last time I was there......but to save a few bucks, we did book there before our 6/21 cruise. The Country Inns and Suits is very nice, and only 2 years old.

Hope that helps.

Fran

How far is the Sheraton from the port and do they allow you to leave your car there? I heard if you stay at the Radisson you can leave your car there without paying extra but that may be old information.

Glad to see this tread is still going, it is helping to pass the very LONG wait.

Thanks for all the great info!!!

But for the $400,000.00 you could play all the minature golf you wanted for free. Oh... and they gave you free soft serve ice cream. All you had to do was walk over and get it yourself.

As I recall.........The Sheraton isn't that far away. It is right next to Ron Jon Surf shop. Hmmmmmmm....I'm guessing less than 5 miles from the port. The do not have the ability to keep your car, since they have a very small parking garage. That is the MAIN reason we switched back to The Rad. Once upon a time, parking at the port was $10.00 a day....... It really didn't hurt too much to keep your car there, and it was so handy to just jump in our car and head back to Tampa. Now..we save money where we can...........ummmmm.....except forgoing the cruise! HAHAHAHAHAHA

RED HOT -not sure what kind of food you like but I always have great food on RCCL and think it is better than CC. Steak is funny and if you have it cooked to much it will be hard most of the time. If you want a steak that you can die for go to Chop's I know it cost but you have to pay for something exceptional.

My wife and I are cruising on the Freedom of the Seas later this year in December. It is my fifth cruise and her third, but it is our first cruise on Royal Caribbean. We have always cruised with Carnival before and were wondering what, if anything, we needed to know about cruising with RCCL. We will be leaving out of Port Canaveral, FL...also a first for us. Any information would be helpful.

Anybody else cruising December 13 on Freedom of the Seas?

BTyson......If you will be in Port Canaveral around dinner time......I suggest eating at Grills. It is on the water, and is a fun "festive" place to go. They have live music and good seafood. In December, you should be able to get the rock shrimp. YUM! While it is a "party" atmosphere....it is not so "out there" that we're not afraid to take our kids with us.

Port Canaveral is very easy to get into. If you have specific questions about the area (hotels, parking, beaches, restaurants), then there is a great threat "I work in Pt. Canaveral" in the Florida departures section of the ports of call. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=18246766&postcount=5511

Have you gone to the Roll Call area of CC? There may be a group of people already chatting about your sailing. :D

We'll be sailing a few weeks after you. Can't wait! Have a wonderful time - and be sure to come back and let us know how you're RCCL experience was. :)

Hi Everyone,

Posted this on the main RCL board but no info...

just wondering, any idea what time I would need to line up to tender in Grand Cayman to be among the first off? We have a non-ship excursion first thing in the a.m.

I don't know if we need to be in line a half hour early, or earlier??

thanks for any info!!

Courtney

PS- BobKat- hope your trip was great, can't wait to see your compassesand menus! We leave in less than 4 weeks

The promenade view cabins are smaller than the standard cabins and only sleep two (except for the family sized cabins). You can see the promenade from your window.

The promenade is the central gathering place on the ship. All the shops are there, along with a few pubs and a cafe that has pizza 24/7.

The soda card includes all soft drinks. Juice is free, soda card or not.

The quality of the food is largely dependent on the people who cook it. Nonetheless, Carnival has been working to improve the quality of its food, and does have, in my opinion, slightly better food than Royal Caribbean.

That said, the food on the Voyager of the Seas last week was great, and as good as the best I have had on Carnival (currently I have done five cruises on each line).

The quality of the service is also dependent on the people providing the service. In general, service on Royal Caribbean is a little better than the service on Carnival, though I have had great waiters and cabin attendants on both lines and average cabin attendants and waiters on both lines.
