internet service

I've never bought a "package", but the regular rates are $.55 per min. Less if you buy an internet package of some sort. If you have any C&A status, then you will get a $$ off coupon for internet connection. Assuming you don't have to stay online long, that may be your cheapest way!

anyone know the cost of internet service in room on royal carribean ships as opposed to their internet cafe charges

The price in your room is the same as the internet cafe charges on the ship. In most ports, there are many internet cafes off the ship that are much less expensive.

The Radiance class ships and the Voyager class ships have the CyberCabin for unlimited in room access. The price varies depending on the length of the cruise but is usually around $100 for a 7 night cruise (the price might be higher now since they've raised their basic internet fees). The connection with the CyberCabin though is around the speed of dial up.
