Why do I NEVER read or hear anything about the Paradise?

Recommended Posts

I've done a review on here long time ago. We live on the West coast and in general you will see and read far less about the West coast ported ships than any others. I have no idea why..

Having said that, we have cruised on the Paradise 3 times with 2 more booked ( in Aug & Dec) I cruise the Paradise for the ship now, having been to the ports many times. She's a great ship, not the Freedom or Splendor, but fun just the same. I have cruised over New Years once on her in 06 and this New Years coming booked on her~ She throws a great New Years party!:D

I will tell you, I chose in Aug 07 to do the Monarch of the Seas instead of the Paradise to check out RCL on the same exact intenerary. I came back to the Paradise..:)

If you have specific questions I'll try and answer..

Happy Cruising,

Donna

I believe it's because it seems there are not that many west coasters on the carnival boards. And if people do choose to fly out here they are sailing on the 7 day cruises (Pride and Spirit)

We have also sailed the Paradise and the Monarch. We liked the Monarch better........

We'll have plenty to say about the Paradise after we sail on her in 391 days...we have booked a Penthouse Suite for the 4 day Cruise and are really excited.......it's going to serve as a tune-up for Team Splendor which will depart 2 days after we return from the Paradise

interesting. I will have to do a little more research then. I know I have heard about the pride and spirit but thought it was wierd that I almost never read anything on here about the Paradise. I would like to try every ship at least once so it's good to be able to read stuff on it.

I was not aware it was a smoking permited cruise?? Does anyone know if that is on deck only or do they smoke in the cabins? They didnt ask me if I prefered non smoking when I booked the cruise

The Paradise is currently doing the 4- and 3-night cruises out of Los Angeles.

We did two weekend cruises last year on her: Labor Day Weekend and the weekend before Christmas. It's a nice getaway. We were going to book another weekend cruise on her for Memorial Day weekend, but we thought the price was a bit steep, especially compared to RCI's Monarch of the Seas that same weekend....so now we're giving RCI a try. Since I already know the cabins are smaller on RCI, I don't see us making any sort of loyalty switch, but we figured for a 3-night cruise we can handle the smaller cabin.

Since our children are grown and we can take our vacations whatever time of year we wish, we generally avoid cruising when kids (young and college-age) are out of school. We have found that on these weekend cruises we get more young people (particularly of college age) than we normally do on our other cruises, and so it has a bit more....ummmm....."party hardy" atmosphere. But nothing so bad as to put us off booking weekend cruises! Just a slightly different demographic, in general.

We do these cruises strictly for the relaxation of cruising. We've been to Baja hundreds of times, and used to go at least once every 4- to 6-weeks. We decided that with the cost of gas and the horrendous lines at the border, taking a cruise to Baja costs about the same as driving down there and staying at a hotel and eating out every meal, with considerably less stress.

I love the Paradise! But then again, I haven't been on any other ship. I went on it in 2006 and going again in less than two weeks:D We booked a suite this time. I will post a review when I get back. Last time we had fantastic service and fantastic food. Went on the three day week ~ saw drinking but no one drunk and stupid. Going on the 4 day this time. I believe they do allow smoking in the rooms. I don't smoke so I don't remember if they allow it. I know I only lasted 15 minutes in the casino because of the smoke. It's just my eyes get so red and watery and I get headaches. Instead of complaining I look at the positive and say well I probably saved money since I can't gamble long.:p

Smoking is allowed in cabins on all Carnival Ships.

Hi Donna,

Would you mind comparing and contrasting the Monarch vs. the Paradise? I was thinking of booking a short Paradise trip after our next cruise on the Monarch (this weekend!!!).

It is very interesting that this thread was started since I just booked the Paradise. I looked on the roll call board and there is almost nothing there.

Since we live near the port we decided to do a quick 4 day Baja trip just to slip in a cheaper cruise this year. Of course, since hubby decided he wanted a balcony and they only have those for the suites, we ended up spending more than planned by booking a category 12. :p

Glad to hear positive things about this ship.

In all honesty I really would not have known this ship existed had my friend not sailed her when she first came out and was smoke free. The only thing I know about her now is that she is no longer smoke free...Does anyone sail this ship or have anything to say about it?

We sailed on the Paradise in Sept of 06 with our 7 kids and had a great time. The ship was in good condition and the staff was very friendly. I did not care too much for the quaility of the food, but every thing else was great. We would sail on her again.

We got off the Paradise last Friday. It was our first cruise, and we loved it.

The staff was great. There was a ton to do, and we had chocolate melting cake all four nights.

For some reason, I also got a kick out the announcement for the "Lido Deck" when getting off the elevator.
