Looking for tour suggestions

We arrive in Anchorage on Sept 2 for our Sept 3 departure on the Carnival Spirit. We are spending the night in hotel by airport. Has anyone taken a floatplane out of Anchorage to see Denali, Knik Glacier or Chugach? Which tour is better? What are the chances of Denali being clear in Sept? We could take one of these tours before heading (Rental car) to Whittier in the afternoon for our 9pm departure. Or would we do better to go to Whittier earlier and take a PWS tour? Our itinary says we will cruise PWS and College fjords. Will we get a good view of PWS and CF from the criuse ship? Need help please with our first AL cruise.

Your chances of seeing McKinley from the ground are like any other time- by pure chance, on average about 25% of the time. All of your flight listings are extremely scenic. I suggest, if your choice, pick the one with the best schedule, making the best use of time.

 

There is NO comparism with the boat tours out of Whittier and what you see from your cruise ship. The boat tours are grossly superior.

 

If you get a rental car, be prepared for $200++++/day. And so I would suggest you make good use of it. :) Touring Anchorage is excellent, even with an early start you could get up to Talkeetna, stopping all along the way?

 

Decide what is most important for you to see and then make the arrangements to do it.
