BlueHorizon Posted September 29, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2004 Does anyone know how long it takes to tender from the cruise ship to the pier at Bar Harbor? We're planning to take the Acadia Tours to Acadia National Park at 10am, but our ship is scheduled to dock at 8am. Do you think that is enough time to get from the ship to the tour's starting point (Testa's restaurant), assuming the ship arrives on schedule? Another option is to take the 2pm tour instead. That way, we're safe if the ship is delayed and any AM fog will have burnt off by then. What do you think? The caveat: tour ends around 4:30pm and our ship leaves at 5:30pm. Maybe that's cutting it too close? I don't know what to do. Please help! I'd appreciate any advice.
daWoods Posted September 30, 2004 #2 Share Posted September 30, 2004 Assuming your ship anchors where I've seen others, the tender shouldn't be longer than 5 to 10 minutes. It's only a short walk to Testas from the pier, so you should have plenty of time if your ship arrives on time, or even if it's a bit late. sdf89 Posted September 30, 2004 #3 Share Posted September 30, 2004 My memory is closer to 10-15 minutes, but we did have high waves that may have slowed us. Are you going on a ship sponsored tour? If not, you may have to wait until those on ship sponsored are tendered in first.

Should be plenty of time.. it took us 5 minutes via tender and testas is about a 2 minute walk from where you get let off we did Dick Cough's acadiatours.com for 20.00 per person at the 10 am one. Last tender leaves the pier 30 minutes before sailing usually..
BlueHorizon Posted September 30, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted September 30, 2004 We're not on ship sponsored tour but are actually taking the one from Acadia Tours (www.acadiatours.com) ...still at $20/person. Even if we get to tender last, it sounds like we'll have plenty of time then. Thank you all so much for your replies!

Krazy Kruizers Posted October 10, 2004 #7 Share Posted October 10, 2004 We have been to Bar Harbor several times. And nearly every time that we have been there, it was raining in the morning or the winds were up. The tender ride was about 10 - 15 minutes. Krazy Kruizers Posted October 10, 2004 #8 Share Posted October 10, 2004 Oh yes - if your ship requires you to get a tender pass, be certain that you get to the lounge early to get your passes. That way you will be among the first off the ship.
