giltedge Posted April 3, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 3, 2008 If we carry our own luggage off the ship, can we debark any time we want? We will be on the May 9th Noordam cruise to the Mediterreanean. Thanks
cruiser429 Posted April 3, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 3, 2008 Must wait until ship clears customs. Then those walking off are allowed off first.
cb at sea Posted April 3, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 3, 2008 They usually have all the "self-carriers" off first. You know that they want everyone off ASAP--as they have to ready the ship for the next batch of folks!
AzCruiseGurl Posted April 4, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 4, 2008 Going on the Conquest in June WOO HOOO If we carry our own luggage, and they call our floor at 8 can we wait intill 9 and leave ? Do we have to leave as soon as they call our floor?
cruiser429 Posted April 4, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 4, 2008 They don't call by floor--debarkation is usually done by a color & number which is supposedly determined by your post cruise plans---People with early flights are supposed to get off earlier. Once they call your group, you can get off then, or hand around for a while. Since you are asked to be out of your cabins by 8 am, it's usually very crowded in the lounges, hallways, etc., so we are usually happy to get off when they call us. lady_cruiser Posted April 4, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 4, 2008 You can debark as soon as they make the announcement that the ship has been cleared by customs.
Happy ks Posted April 4, 2008 #7 Share Posted April 4, 2008 I'm not familiar with HAL (one day!), but I know other lines make you sign up for self-disembarkation a couple of days prior to the end of the cruise. We did it once and will choose not to again...unless we can pack in only one lightweight bag. Not one rolling bag and a carry on, just one bag each. That we couldn't get onto the elevator and had to use the stairs was a hassle with 2 bags. There were so many people hanging out next to the gangway it was difficult to manage rolling around them. Then, the line for immigration was an hour long and we had to finagle all our bags through the line, it was tedious. Since then, we have our bags taken away at midnight, the next morning after breakfast our color is called, we walk right off the ship to the line, our bags are waiting for us right by the exit door, no searching any longer since so many people are disembarking carrying their own luggage.
