Non Smoking Bar?

I don't know if this is true, but I was told that one bar on each ship will be designated as non smoking. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes, it is true, and I think for the Mariner it is the Champagne Bar. There is no entertainment there, though.

I know I'll start something by replying to this, BUT, I'm gonna do it anyway. I still don't get it when 80% of the people don't smoke and yet all but one bar is non-smoking???? I've lost my Dad and my grandmother to lung cancer from smoking. :( I am a former smoker but quit many, many years ago so I don't even like having to smell it walking past a bar. Oh well...I guess change comes slowly...very slowly.

wait, i thought at this point, all royal caribbean ships are non smoking. with the exception of the casino, i thought. besides the health hazards (believe me, i agree) - the problem on a ship is fire hazard.

We spent all of our evenings on the Mariner at the champagne bar, which was non-smoking. There may not be organized entertainment, but Angela and Ismael kept things fun. :)

Their website says smoking is allowed in many of our lounges. I'd copy the paragraph it but it's a PDF.

We were on Monarch last week and I thought I walked through only 1 bar that had smoking in it? Every place else (except the casino) was non-smoking.

We were on the Serenade last week. I HATE cigarette smoke!

 

I only noticed smoking in the casino...and they even had two non-smoking nights. I think the ship only allowed smoking in the casino and the Hollywood Odessey? I think?

The Monarch's non-smoking bar is the Schooner Bar. It used to be Bolero's, but it switched. The night club in Circuit still allows smoking, and I think the VCL does as well, but I really didn't go up there.

Yes, on the Monarch the Schooner Bar is the designated non-smoking lounge. All others allow smoking. I had heard that it was the Schooner Bar fleet wide, but haven't sailed on another ship yet to verify this.

i guess the good thing about the casino being a smoking area is it keeps me from staying there long and "donating" lots of money to royal caibbean! :D

Sorry, but we cruise on Royal Caribbean 2x a year. The last was on the Liberty last Sept. 2007. At that time there was NOT on bar that was non-smoking. Not one. I hope this changes. Most do not smoke. But the few who do make it so horrible for others. With a ship this big you would think that they could handle both smokers and non-smokers.

Sorry, but we cruise on Royal Caribbean 2x a year. The last was on the Liberty last Sept. 2007. At that time there was NOT on bar that was non-smoking. Not one. I hope this changes. Most do not smoke. But the few who do make it so horrible for others. With a ship this big you would think that they could handle both smokers and non-smokers.

 

The new smoking policy didn't go into effect until January of this year.

Just got off the Navigator on Monday and the Schooner Bar is definitely a smoking bar. This is the bar we frequented the most due to the fact that I could smoke, the entertainment was good and the bartender, Anil, took good care of us when I tipped him in cash.

 

On board the Navigator, there are 6 of the 16 bars that are non-smoking bars. The Ixtapa Lounge, the Plaza Bar, The Solarium pool bar, the Cafe Promenade bar, the Champagne Bar, and the Vintages Wine bar are all smoke free.

 

I found it to be very well proportioned for both smokers and non alike.
