Can this tour be done on our own w/o making a reservation?

Can tickets be purchased on site when we get there?

Yes it can, if you have time. You can shuttle back and forth to the Mendenhall Glacier for about $14 round trip per person. $3 admission if you want to go in the visitor center. The Hatchery is a stop on the city bus, or you can walk about 3 miles or take a cab. The shuttle will NOT drop off/pick up. So you do have to allow MORE time without a tour and back track, wait for buses etc. The Hatchery is less than $10.

 

MGT also does independent tours that are extremely well run. I see they have a Mendenhall Hatchery tour available?
