TwinMom7 Posted April 14, 2008 Author #26 Share Posted April 14, 2008 Just a question.... was there a difference in shp time vs land time in belize? And how does it work? Yes - there is a 2 hour difference between Ship Time and Belize Time. They will tell you to always keep you watch on ship time - which remains the same as Florida Time (Eastern) throughout. If you're taking a tour in Belize (which we did), your tour guides will be working totally on Ship Time.
TwinMom7 Posted April 14, 2008 Author #27 Share Posted April 14, 2008 I sailed on the glory in 2006, and I am going again on Oct 4, 2008, I did the eastern the first time, so I am looking forward to hearing about the ports. Did you do Cozumel, Belize, Honduras and Freeport, I know there is different western routes. The glory is a great ship, I am looking forward to sailing her again. Our stops were Cozumel, Belize and Nassau. I believe that next week, she adds a 4th stop. We were compensated $50 on our Sail and Sign card for the loss of the 4th port. Not sure that was much of a compensation - especially for losing Costa Maya, but it was a great cruise nonetheless.

We sailed the Glory western in 2005 and absolutely loved sailing out of PC and the Glory. Would go on her again in a second!
Yvonne Posted April 14, 2008 #31 Share Posted April 14, 2008 Loved the first part of your review, and the pictures too! DH and I were on the Glory in January (same itinerary as yours) with another couple and we had a wonderful cruise, I did a review also with pictures. People seem to really enjoy the reviews that add pictures. The more pictures, the better as far as I'm concerned so keep 'em coming!! :)

TwinMom7 Posted April 14, 2008 Author #34 Share Posted April 14, 2008 Sunday, April 6th was our first full day at sea. My friend Gena and I were up early and on deck by 7:30 a.m. The "chair hogs" were already out in full force. I will tell you now that this was the "norm" for the week and I will not go into detail each Sea Day. Gena and I would get our seats, she would run on the track and I'd relax with a cup of coffee and my book. http://inlinethumb53.webshots.com/40308/2816966170030311051S500x500Q85.jpg Except for slipping out for meals, our chairs were in use from 7:30 a.m. until about 3:30 p.m. If our husbands found their way out of the shade, they would sit on the foot of our lounger. Gena and I each saved one additional lounger for our friends who joined us around 8:30 a.m. I did notice several mornings that already at 7:30 there were groups of six and more chairs covered with towels, books, shoes, etc. Those chairs were never in use until at least 10:00. I think people set their alarm, got up, took their items to the Lido Deck, marked their spots and went back to bed. The Carnival Caper states that no lounge chair should be "held" for more than 30 minutes. Trust me, this was never enforced. OK - enough about the "chair hogs". Our "norm" for the sea days was to have room service bring us coffee and bagels and fruit at 7:00 a.m. and then I was off to Lido Deck. My husband usually found his way out there around 10:00 a.m. The sun was bright and the sea was calm - it was a perfect day. Here's my brother and sister-in-law soaking up the sun. http://inlinethumb57.webshots.com/41976/2658855140030311051S500x500Q85.jpg ...and my brother "checking out" the Lido Deck from above. http://inlinethumb56.webshots.com/19447/2343212650030311051S500x500Q85.jpg Sunday afternoon's entertainment on the Lido Deck consist of the Ice Carving Demonstration and the Hairy Chest Contest. My sister-in-law and I along with another lady were chosen as the judges for the Hairy Chest Contest - which is always a real crowd pleaser!! http://inlinethumb15.webshots.com/12686/2525207790030311051S500x500Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb01.webshots.com/25600/2824274010030311051S500x500Q85.jpg By late afternoon, we made our way to our room to get showered and ready for the Captain's Cocktail Reception and our 1st Formal Night. All of the lounges offer the reception, but if you want to meet the Captain and his Officers, you must attend the reception in the Ebony Lounge. http://inlinethumb23.webshots.com/41430/2389454240030311051S500x500Q85.jpg Our Captain was from Italy and he announced that the only member of his staff that was an American was our Cruise Director - Ryan Fitzgerald from the GREAT STATE of INDIANA. Of course, we had 12 Hoosiers at our table and we were cheering very loudly for Ryan - who put on quite a show and had the crowd going. After the introductions were completed, he made his way over to our table and visited with his fellow Hoosiers for a few minutes. A very nice guy!!! After the reception, we made our way to the Ivory Lounge for cigars and martinis before our 8:00 dinner in the Platinum Dining Room. Tonight's menu included lobster and it was "oh so yummy". Oh, and this was the night that my husband discovered the chocolate melting cake - which I think he had every night from then on. http://inlinethumb03.webshots.com/39234/2016878460030311051S500x500Q85.jpg After dinner, we changed into comfy clothes and made our way to the piano bar. This was a lot of fun!!! The piano player informed us that there were 4 songs we would NEVER hear him play. Number 4: The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Number 3: Gilligan's Island. Nubmer 2: The Love Boat. And Number 1 - Anything by Celine Dion. He told us that ALL of the musicians went down with the Titanic - but that would NOT happen to him. He'd ride that thing (the grand piano) with a paddle all the way back to Florida. So, after a very long day - it was time for a good night's sleep in preparation for a fun day in Cozumel. This little fellow greeted us upon returning to our room.... http://inlinethumb56.webshots.com/24823/2824396110030311051S500x500Q85.jpg Next installment - Cozumel, Jewelry Shopping, Senor Frogs, Fury Catamaran/Beach Break. TwinMom7 Posted April 14, 2008 Author #43 Share Posted April 14, 2008 We were lucky with the weather our entire week. Monday morning brought us a beautiful sunrise as we sailed into Cozumel. We were up early and enjoyed breakfast in our Carnival robes on our balcony. Then it was time to get dressed, meet our friends for some MORE breakfast at the buffet and then head to the top decks to watch as we sailed smoothly alongside the Carnival Fantasy. http://inlinethumb04.webshots.com/31235/2884532390030311051S500x500Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb36.webshots.com/21475/2757414620030311051S500x500Q85.jpg We were off the ship by 10:30 and headed into the shopping district. HEY - "Welcome to Cozumel". http://inlinethumb59.webshots.com/13498/2958707450030311051S500x500Q85.jpg Us girls had JEWELRY on our minds - and we were all very successful with our purchases. Our husbands just sat outside the stores and shook their heads. http://inlinethumb59.webshots.com/14522/2938723540030311051S500x500Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb29.webshots.com/22556/2377130360030311051S500x500Q85.jpg After our shopping excursion, we were hungry and thirsty and we set our sights on Senor Frogs. http://inlinethumb23.webshots.com/39766/2550405850030311051S500x500Q85.jpg mmmmmmmmm - guacamole!!!! http://inlinethumb50.webshots.com/41393/2454948570030311051S500x500Q85.jpg We spent an hour enjoying the music and contests with our friends at Senor Frogs and then it was off to our Deluxe Sail and Snorkel Excurion - courtesy of Fury Catamarans. Here are Gena and I, patiently waiting for our excursion... http://inlinethumb06.webshots.com/36997/2916915090030311051S500x500Q85.jpg Once the snorkeling portion of the excursion was complete, we ended up on a private beach for an hour of relaxation and all the beer and margaritas we could consume. Looks like our husbands found the perfect spot.... http://inlinethumb10.webshots.com/40777/2774953910030311051S500x500Q85.jpg NOTE for all cell phone users: Up until now, I have freely sent and received text messages from our children. That all came to an end after today in Cozumel. I couldn't send or receive until we got just off the Florida coast early on Saturday morning. (More about that later). We boarded our catamaran for the ride back to the pier and we boarded the Glory with only about 10 minutes to spare. We went straight to the Lido Deck and found a spot by the railing to watch as the Glory pushed away. http://inlinethumb13.webshots.com/41676/2992011190030311051S500x500Q85.jpg Before heading to our room, I made my way to the Glory's Aft for this shot. I love seeing the ship's wake. http://inlinethumb30.webshots.com/7581/2381532180030311051S500x500Q85.jpg Monday evening consisted of dinner in the Platinum Dining Room and then a show in the Amber Palace - "Living in America". We all enjoyed this show very much!! We drug back to our room around midnight to be greeted by our latest "friend" and we dropped into bed and drifted off to sleep beneath that ever so comfortable Carnival bedding. http://inlinethumb11.webshots.com/9098/2609692220030311051S500x500Q85.jpg Next Installment: Belize, Cave Tubing with Major Tom

TakeMeAway1001 Posted April 14, 2008 #49 Share Posted April 14, 2008 I had to force DH off the computer tonight, he thought I had to log into work but then walked by and saw the CC logo and shook his head. Poor DH has no idea how important these reviews are, they are even more important then logging into check things at work ;) I guess it's a good thing he hasn't shown any interest in CC, it would stink to have two of us wanting to get on every night. Thanks for taking the time to share your cruise with us.
