January weather in Western Caribbean

Hi all,

 

My family and I are going to the Western Caribbean on 1/12/09 and I am wondering what the weather/ocean temperature/pool water temperature is during that time of the year.

 

Has anyone cruised the Caribbean around that time of year? My husband and I went during the summer about 7 years ago. This time we are taking the kids but chose to go during the least expensive time, thus January.

I've been there twice in January, weather was perfect, water was cold.

All of our cruises have been to the Caribbean in January and the weather has been great each time . The water was a little cold,but nothing to complain about. Nancy

Beautiful. Our last two cruises were in January, as our next cruise will be. You might have one day of rough weather but out there on the open sea that can happen any time of the year.

We always cruise in January, we've always had perfect weather - 80's and 90's.

Have cruised that month several times -- all but one time we had beautiful weather -- but the water at the beaches was cold.

We've been to Grand Caymen, Cozumel, Progresso, etc. during January. It's hot during the day so pack shorts. While the water is a bit cooler, it sure beats 100+ degrees in the middle of July!

Pools on Carnival are salt water, and refilled nightly from the ocean, so the water will be cool to cold, depending on what you consider cold. Air temps should be warm, though.

The weather will be nice in all the ports. Usualy in he 80's. The only place it may be cold is the port you leave from. We usually sail from New Orleans and it can be very cold there in January.
