Many, if not most, river cruises cater to older passengers (like me--I am a young 70); however, you might try a cruise on the Amazon River where there are many opportunities for unique activities. A few years ago, we took the Seabourne Pride from Manaus down the Amazon to (ultimately) Ft. Lauderdale. We are involved in aligator hunting at night, fishing for piriana, visting tribal villages, dances, etc. I highly recommend this trip. Another river trip you might find interesting (and active) is on the Irrawaddi in Mynamar (Burma). We took the Road to Mandalay ship which offered most interesting shore tours which required a lot of walking and some climbing. Obviously, there are many river trips in Europe and China; however, the two which I have mentioned are truly unique and offer exciting activities. You might also want to contact Abercrombie and Kent, a travel agency which specializes in unique travel experiences. We have been more than pleased when we have elected to use their services.

Hambergler,

Yes, most river cruises are tending to a crowd aged 50+++. Anyway I did my first river cruise at the age of 28 and now 13 years later I´m still cruisng on the rivers.

It all depends on you and what you expect. There is no big entertainment, no casino. Amadeus Waterways carries bikes on their boats and has a great in cabin entertainment system (videos on demand, internet). If you like sightseeing, architecture and culture a river cruise is perfect for you regardless of your age. If you don´t mind the company of passengers being much older than you then go for a river cruise. You definitely won´t find many people at your age (if at all).

Hi everyone,

You are not right that cruises are over 50+++...

For example I'm 28 and I like it very much ( few my cruises http://fotoplenka.ru/users/volkoff )

You can try non-standart trip for foreigners on Russian rivers. There is a lot of Cruise companies in Russia and there is a lot of beautiful places to visit in Russia by the river (except standart route between Moscow and St.Petersburg).

For example look: http://vodohod.spb.ru/en/ (I've travelled with this company last time from St.Petersburg to Yaroslavl and back on "M/S "Valerian Kujbyshev" )

If you are interested in, don't hesitate ask and I'll help you find your route.

Good luck... :)
