pudy68 Posted April 2, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2004 Is it considered OK to grab a plate at the Windjammer, fill it up, and bring it back to our cabin? Or would this be frowned upon? I don't want to use room service whenever a craving hits...just wondering what is the protocol? Mariner, here we come! AOS 4/21/02 (awesome!) J&SLowery Posted April 2, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 2, 2004 I don't know if its frowned upon or not (and quite frankly I couldn't care less)....but I've done it numerous times for a nice breakfast plate full of fruit for the balcony Jay Jay & Scheila Lowery Until Radiance of the Seas..... Rare Cruisehappymn Posted April 2, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 2, 2004 You see people heading to their cabins with plates full of buffet food, cookies, or whatever all the time. We had a balcony and liked having snacks and drinks out there. Just another reason to eat!! Bandit236 Posted April 2, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 2, 2004 Hi, I personally like going to the pool early in the morning, grabbing a plate of fruit and bacon, and taking it back to my lounge chair by the pool. Also, at lunch time, one of us will run in for snacks for all of us and bring it to the pool. Of course, we make sure to get rid of the trash and leftovers when done eating. Have fun. Folgy Posted April 2, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 2, 2004 pudy68 I do the a.m. goodie grab and run from the windjammer. Sometimes is just nicer because my dear wife is in her nighties and does not wish anyone in the room (other than me) Celebrity Infinity May 28/04 <applet code="countdown.class" CODEBASE="http://*************/java-sys" width="203" height="25"> <param name="font" value="lcdb0"> <param name="year" value=2004> <param name="month" value=5> <param name="day" value=28> <param name="hour" value=12> </applet> Serenade of the Seas (My Big 50) <applet code="countdown.class" CODEBASE="http://*************/java-sys" width="203" height="25"> <param name="font" value="lcdb0"> <param name="year" value=2004> <param name="month" value=8> <param name="day" value=8> <param name="hour" value=12> </applet>

cruisin'gal Posted April 4, 2004 #16 Share Posted April 4, 2004 Something to order from room service that is not on the buffet is the fruit and cheese plate. Nice assortment of cheese with fresh fruit, enjoyed having this before dinner with a glass of wine on our balcony. Have a great time, cruisin'gal
paw323 Posted April 12, 2004 #17 Share Posted April 12, 2004 During my last cruise on Vision, I had a balcony on deck 8, near the midship elevators. I went to the Windjammer numerous times at lunch and brought plates of food back since it was so convenient. Nothing like kicking back wth a book and lunch on the balcony. You've already paid for the food, you oughta be able to do as you please with it. Less work for the Windjammer crew, and you don't take more than you need. Everyone wins. kimba_99 Posted April 12, 2004 #19 Share Posted April 12, 2004 Sometimes you just don't know what you want to eat and going to the buffet is a good solution, rather than ordering room service. You can see the food and decide on the spot what you do or do not want and then just take it back to your cabin. How many times have you ordered something and when you got it, it really wasn't what you wanted?? I say go for it! Hey and while your there take an extra couple of cookies for ron... http://community.webshots.com/user/kimba_99
dlbaqua Posted April 12, 2004 #20 Share Posted April 12, 2004 One my favorite memories from my recent cruise. Dh was napping, I was reading on the balcony and got hungry (you know it'd been like 2 whole hours since lunch)..so I strolled down to the Windjammer, filled a plate with fruit & sandwiches and a piece of cake. Grabbed a glass of lemonade and headed to the room. I didn't wake up dh, thinking I'd save some for him. I sat on the balcony, wrapped in a blanket 'cause it was windy and a little chilly. I sipped lemonaide, ate, read my book and watched the water. The cake was so delicious I had a hard time saving any for dh. It was so serene and peaceful, everything about those moments was perfect! When he woke up, he ate a little and wanted more cake, so I ran down to the Windjammer, but it was all gone!

jkrislc Posted April 13, 2004 #24 Share Posted April 13, 2004 I've never had a problem and even asked once and they said it would be fine. However, I did once have a problem with Princess as we had late seating dinner and took a plate of cheese and fruit into one of the lounges. They told us we couldn't bring food into the lounge, yet they served food in there for the Captain's Circle cocktail party--go figure--and they also served "bar mix".
