andy and amanda Posted April 19, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2008 Hello! In the midst of packing for the CB departing on Sunday (although we fly to FLL tomorrow) and DH wants to know if sandals will work with his long pants and nice-ish shirt for the "smart casual" nights in the dining room, or, should he pack and wear more formal, "dressy" shoes? TIA - Amanda and Andy from Atlanta
Toto2Kansas Posted April 19, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2008 Well, depends on what kind of sandals. There are dress sandals and there are beach sandals. Dress sandals would probably work, but not so sure if beach sandals would be appropriate.
derf5585 Posted April 19, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 19, 2008 leather loafers or dressy slip-on's from http://www.casualpower.com/business_casual_tips/six_categories.html
Toto2Kansas Posted April 19, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 19, 2008 leather loafers or dressy slip-on'sfrom http://www.casualpower.com/business_casual_tips/six_categories.html That is exactly what my DH wears. Sandals during the day, slip ons in the evening. But he does have some great dress sandals that are simi enclosed and do not leave his bare toes sticking out that would also work. andy and amanda Posted April 19, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted April 19, 2008 leather loafers or dressy slip-on'sfrom http://www.casualpower.com/business_casual_tips/six_categories.html Great article and clarification - thanks! Putterdude Posted April 19, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 19, 2008 A pair of casual shoes would be more appropriate but I don't think that anyone would become unglued over a good pair of leather sandals...once his feet are under the table no one is going to see. Treven Posted April 19, 2008 #7 Share Posted April 19, 2008 I always wear sandals, Propet; I have a black pair for my black or Navy blue slacks and a brown pair for my brown slacks - plus the appropriately colored socks, of course.

derf5585 Posted April 19, 2008 #9 Share Posted April 19, 2008 So if we were going smart casual and then downgraded, does that mean we're dressing ‘dumb casual’ now?” from http://thelostandprofound.blogspot.com/2007/05/what-heck-is-smart-casual.html
flag fan Posted April 19, 2008 #10 Share Posted April 19, 2008 At the risk of sounding too fussy, I think sandals should not be worn in the dining rooms at night, no matter how nice or semi-enclosed they are. Loafers/slip-ons are fine; sneakers and sandals--not so much.

Loafers/slip-ons are fine; sneakers and sandals--not so much. You would be surprised how many men wore sandals and tennies on non formal nights on the Diamond Princsess. My husband just always wore his western boots (very nice ones) for all occasions. He doesn't even own a pair of regular shoes, he has always worn western boots or tennies. After 48 yrs, I am not about to change him now, lol
LARGIN Posted April 19, 2008 #12 Share Posted April 19, 2008 On our upcoming b2b2b cruise I plan on wearing my tennies a few times on Casual and perhaps once on formal night. I figure they will go great with my tux..

TIA - Amanda and Andy from Atlanta I wore sandals on the CB to the dining room on Island night. No problem at all. Other nights just a casual pair of "deck shoes" as they call them. Of course formal means the black dress shoes for me.
