Sun Princess in Brisbane (Portside) today

Anyone going to Portside today? I am dropping a TA friend off who is having one of those TA lunches onboard (lucky $#@%$%%), couldn't get me an invite:( .

I was hoping to get there but my wife wants to go somewhere else today. This new development now has me at odds of a million to one (and drifting) of getting there.

... but you never know .....

I hope you have a great day!

Yep, we might go down later this morning. With Pacific Sun off on the Cherry Blossom cruise, it's been a slow month in Brisbane for ships.

Hi Skyrules, don't worry, the Pacific Sun will be back in her home port tomorrow.:D she is on her way from Sydney.

kind regards Lorraine:) :)

We ventured down there this morning to see her come in and all I can say is, that it was FREEZING (for Brisbane that is!!). We got there around 7.00 and could see her approaching the Gateway Bridge. We videoed her as she gracefully sailed in. It was good to see a few other people brave the chill and come and see her sail in also.

I got chatting to a lovely older lady who was going to be doing the world voyage on Sun Princess' sister in July next year - DH and I are SO jealous of her, but after coming home and checking the fare, we will ave to keep working for the next 30 years to even contemplate a 104 night cruise (we can keep dreaming though!!).

Hi, I_Love_Cruising. We are looking forward to being your shipmates in just a few weeks now. Please try to hold temperatures in Brisbane to above 20 degrees for us. I'm hoping that freezing in Brisbane is at least above about 15 degrees, or maybe about the melting point of BUTTER! :)

We just spent 6 months freezing in Baltimore, our home, but spring has arrived and the days are now long. I know you don't have many hours of sunlight to deal with there now, but we hope to make the most of them. Fortunately, we will be sailing NORTH!

Bob, freeezing in Brisbane is anything below 20 ©, and that increases the further North you go!

Yep, but we only have her for about 4 turnarounds and then she's off to NZ for 2 months! At least we have Pacific Dawn to look forward to on June 1 - will be our first look at her in person before we sail on her in September.

Sun Princess in Brisbane today. We noticed that there were quite a lot of passengers joining the cruise in Brisbane.

Great pics!

Where did you take them from? It looks like the Bulimba side of the river. Did you take the ferry across?

Pardon my ignorance but I haven't been to that area (Bulimba) for a long time. Used to hang out there when a teenager though ;)

The photo's were taken from the Apollo Road City Cat terminal, but no, we didn't catch the ferry across, we drove around over the Gateway Bridge and along Lytton Road.

Thanks for replying Kym. You know, I wasn't aware of a City Cat terminal at Apollo Road. How times have changed. I could go into my past life in and around that area of Brisbane but most of it is a blur

As I said, I love the photos. Thanks again.

The City Cat's haven't been going there long (not for passengers), although I think there's been a servicing/fueling point there for awhile.

We only discovered it when we went down to Portside on the City Cat when we sailed on Pacific Sun in March. We realised it might make a good place to get full shots of the ships at Portside, so we investigated yesterday - and you see the results above.

Apollo Road ferry is one of several that has recently been reopened.

Many years ago this was a very popular ferry for punters heading to the races from the southside. Before the days of casinos, scratchies, etc horseracing was big and a saturday race day could really pull a big crowd unlike now.
