scubadiver888 Posted April 24, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2008 Greetings, I am planning on taking my third cruise with Princess. This time it will be the Sea Princess. Looking at the information on http://www.princess.com, it looks a lot like the Golden Princess. Last two trips were inside cabin and I rented scuba gear. This time round I plan on bringing my scuba gear. Should I upgrade to a balcony cabin? The shower on the Golden was very small. If you look at the room diagram for an inside cabin on the Golden http://www.princess.com/images/learn/ships/golden_princess/staterooms/diagram/stateroom_diagram_np_interior_double.gif and compare it to the inside cabin of the Sea Princess http://www.princess.com/images/learn/ships/sea_princess/staterooms/diagram/stateroom_diagram_cp_interior_double.gif it looks like the shower might be bigger. Basically, the shower in the Golden was too small for two people to fit in. If I'm going to wash my scuba gear I'll need room for me and my gear, with the curtain closed. Can two people fit in the shower of the Sea Princess? Is the size of the shower for inside cabin, oceanview and balcony the same? Thanks for you help, Darrell
Rare sonomaphil Posted April 24, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 24, 2008 Pretty much all the same. If the Golden was too small, the Sea won't be any larger. Unless both of you are Nicole Ritchie sized you'll never get two people in there! Try a mini suite, full bath tub in those.
Toto2Kansas Posted April 24, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 24, 2008 I agree, if you need more space for whatever reason, mini suites on Sun Class ships, like the Sea Princess, are fantastic. Nothing like those on the larger class of ships in the fleet. The minis on the Sea are more like the full suites on the larger ships. Not only is there a huge seperate glass walled/doored shower, but a totally seperate tub with jacuzzi type jets. Each bathroom is like two seperate rooms on the Sun Class ships. Also, they provide a nice sized balcony and sitting area. AB aft minis also have a wetbar, something the AC side minis do not. As for your scuba gear. Without a balcony to let it dry on, not sure where you would put it while it was drying as there isn't enough room in the small bathrooms in the other stateroom categories. Thanks for you help, Darrell The shower in the balcony cabin won't be any larger. They are tiny. If you don't want to pay $$$$ for a minisuite there should be a shower at/near the pool. You could shlep your gear there for a rinse and squeeze it into the cabin's shower overnight to dry, or upgrade to a $$ balcony for that purpose. I was able to fit my snorkel gear, full kit, in the shower. It would be a tight fit, but you could probably be able to fit the dive gear.
scubadiver888 Posted April 25, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted April 25, 2008 Thank you, everyone, for the quick responses. I was afraid this was the answer I was going to get. The size of the inside cabin is fine for me. The only down side is the size of the shower. I didn't want something as big as the mini suite just to get a tub or larger shower. :( I was on the Celebrity Galaxy last week and the shower was big enough that you could get two people in it. It also had a 3 inch high lip on the door entrance. I could easily fit all my gear in there. Hang the wetsuit and regs off the show head and my semi-inflated BCD on the floor.
