mbiggers Posted April 26, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2008 Hi, Based on previous shore excursions, DH and I have assumed that meals were included on the land portion of our cruisetour, but I don't see anyplace ont the itinerary detail that says they are. I've checked the website and brochure and can't find any info except "Dining Options." So now I'm wondering if they are or not. Thanks, Michele
coiran Posted April 26, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 26, 2008 They are not included and are very expensive - prepare a BIG budget for food on the land tour. $15 for breakfast, $20 - $25 for lunch and $40 plus for dinner per person. Ron

cruisingfreak Posted April 26, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 26, 2008 We had an escourted cruise/tour, when we went to Alaska in 2006. Most of our meals were included, but you did pay more to begin with, for this cruise/tour. Minette

We were at the Denali Princess Lodge and McKinley Princess Lodge and found two levels of dining. A nice restaurant with fairly high prices...$20-$40 pp, and a cafe with lower prices in the $8-$15 range.

Toto2Kansas Posted April 26, 2008 #7 Share Posted April 26, 2008 We took the cruise tour to Alaska some years ago, and meals were defintely not included. And if you plan to take the train as part of your tour, they are also not included onboard the train either. Meals do not come into play as included until you board the ship. I agree with the rest, plan/budget accordingly, Alaska we found to be much more expensive then anywhere we had previously visited.
coiran Posted April 26, 2008 #8 Share Posted April 26, 2008 Breakfast and dinner are included in escorted land tours. Not if you book the Princess land tours!! Ron
thinfool Posted April 26, 2008 #9 Share Posted April 26, 2008 Not if you book the Princess land tours!! I think there is a difference between a 'cruisetour' (a cruiseline word) and an 'escorted land tour' (a travel agency phrase). Both have their place, both are pricey, but there are differences. We did the cruisetour last time, next time, it's DIY time! :D

Most meals were included. This land tour cost more than the other tours, because you were paying for the escort & food. Minette
