levon10 Posted October 4, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2004 I am new to Holland America and was looking for information on this type of room. Do they have safes ? Are the balconies large ? Do they have a mini fridge ? Noise level ? Thank you, Marylynne
dakrewser Posted October 4, 2004 #2 Share Posted October 4, 2004 You don't mention which ship, but I'm assuming a Vista-class (Zuiderdam, Westerdam, Oosterdam) since that cabin number is a BA on those. According to Cruise Stateroom - Deluxe Balcony Outside Staterooms include two lower beds convertible to a queen-size bed, television, telephone and multi-channel music, bath & shower, sitting area, private balcony, floor-to-ceiling windows. Approximately 200 square feet plus 54 square foot balcony.
Krazy Kruizers Posted October 4, 2004 #3 Share Posted October 4, 2004 Yes there is a safe in your cabin. And there is a mini-refrigerator - which is stocked with drinks - small bottles of alcohol, soda, etc - not free - you use - you pay.
TedC Posted October 4, 2004 #4 Share Posted October 4, 2004 Cabin 5091 is in the indented section of the ship and thus has a slightly smaller balcony than the A and B cabins forward and aft. Your balcony will be the same width as the others but will be 12 to 18 inches shallower, but still very usable. Your location midships and near the midship elevators and stairs is a good location. The 2004 Europe brochure shows the Westerdam verandah cabins as 241 square feet, including the verandah. The Zuider and Oosterdams are almost identical in layourt and vary mostly in decor. Those brochure cabin sizes, which include the verandah footage, seem to be averages. The cabins across the stern have much larger verandahs and that ups the average. The verandah cabins on HAL's smaller ships are larger, but the Vista class cabins are still comfortable and I'm sure you'll have an enjoyable cruise.
