Prague Restaurants

Any suggestions on good, inexpensive restaurants near the Hilton in Prague? Our Avalon river cruise tour starts with 3 nights at the Hilton, but I think they only include big breakfasts. We are light but adventurous eaters and like all kinds of ethnic foods. Are there good "street food" areas? How easy is it to get around? The metro system does not look extensive. How is the bus system? We will be bringing a hand held GPS with a European SIM card to help in finding our way around as well as finding restaurants. Is there a good farmer's market?

We walked to a great neighborhood restaurant just a few blocks from the Hilton, U Ceskeholva. We took a cab from the Hilton to Old Town, about 7 euros going and 4 euros back. Go figure! The restaurants in Old Town were very expensive and touristy, but it was fun to sit outdoors, have a beer and watch the world go by. Ask you city guide for suggestions, our's was very helpful.

The restaurant mentioned by gas was wonderful. Make sure you go to the restaurant not the beer garden. Th restaurant is in the basement of a building--great food. Will look up the other restaurants we visited and post later. Pat

Every restaurant in central Prague is down a flight of stairs because that was the street level hundreds of years ago.
