MSC cruises?

There is a section with reviews of those cruises you might want to read, mixed reviews on food, good unusual entertainment. They used to have lots of pasta, which I dont like.

Iv heard they are getting a little better with Americans, they used to have a bad rep from Americans.

food is for European pallets..I kin dig that..not the clean clean we like, and so-so entertainment. You might get on a board.. I did over a year ago, and read a lot of "never agains". Costs was good in the "olden days". but can stay close to home.

My parents are in their mid-50s and HATED this line. They have sailed RCCI, Princess, HAL (felt too "old" for them), etc. multiple times and enjoyed every trip except for their MSC cruise. They got tired of escarole salads, heavy Italian dishes, and announcements all the time in many languages. They were also seated with non-English speakers and requests to move were not granted with enthusiasm. (It took 3nights of requesting to get moved...) I'm all for trying new things, but probably wouldn't be in a rush to try this line unless the ports were not available any other way.

They are an Italian owned line that is why they are heavy on the Italian stuff. My husband is an employee for another subsidiary of their parent company and I am afraid to sail on them as I have many issues on what I eat. You would cry if you seen the deals that we have had to pass up.

I looked into them pretty heavily when I wanted to do Panama Canal and Princess is the main other cruiseline that had similar cruise. MSC had their panama canal on a auction site for pretty cheap, like $500 for 10 days. Im just not sure I can stand abbreviated meal times and all that pasta because I really dont like any kind of pasta in order for a cheap cruise to the panama canal.

We sailed with them last December and had a great time. We are in our late 30's with 2 kids and have been on 9 cruises in total. We do enjoy Italian food but had no problem getting something other than pasta. I could compare it to Carnival or Royal but not up to Holland, NCL or Disney. Go have fun....great price and we had great service. So what if it has an international flair. Erin.
