Grace,

For your next Dawn cruise, the card room is hidden on the Rivera deck, fwd on the Port side, among the even numbered cabins. Location makes no sense. Seems like an after thought, just like the balconies.

I will be on the Dawn in a few hours !!

Have a great trip.......we went down to have lunch at Anthonys and watch you and the Golden sail........but they had the Red Bull Air Races yesterday and we couldn't park. Were you able to see the races from the ship.....:)

I am back from the cruise on the Dawn had a great time , Could not see the Red Bull Races very good , the Golden Princess was next to us it blocked most of the view. I am cruising on the Golden Princess next Saturday, out of Seattle my first Alaska cruise.

I just got off my first Princess cruise... and have to say, I did not really enjoy it. Actually, this was my first cruise ever. I did travel with my kids, ages 7 and 11. The kids center for 7 yr olds I think is a joke. There is nothing to do!! They didn't have any of the game systems hooked up, or any of the TV's on, and not one of the Kids Club employees even greeted us. I thought the food in the buffet was aweful. We went for pizza the 2nd night, and that was good!! Went to the show, enjoyed that very much. The lead singer (bald guy) was great! I guess what I didn't like was the lack of activities aboard the ship. The casino was small, but I understand it is a small ship.. I won't base my decision on whether to sail again on this cruise though, I will give them another shot. Thinking of a bigger ship to Mexico. Maybe the bigger ship, and longer cruise will give me something to do! I don't want you to bash me, I am only giving my 2 cents!!!!

You have to really see the Dawn to appreciate her!! She is old style cruise ship, lots of teak and art deco. We were so impressed. Nothing else matters. We did not expected to be entertained. Just being on this ship was a privilege. We hope others feel the same as this style of ship will be soon forgotten.

I too thought the food at the buffet was TERRIBLE and the service was poor. No servers coming around to serve coffee, water or juice, you had to get your own, which was ok but there should be a sign posted so you know. When we were on the Diamond Princess they preferred to serve you rather then you getting your own.

The balcony was a joke, and we were on the Carib (sp) deck. I think I prefer the Baja deck, but this was not the fault of the ship, just stating a fact since someone said this was the most sought after deck, I can't see why.

The staff, I did not find friendly at all and the casino dealers would not even talk to you. It was a very cold atmosphere in my opinion.

We are taking this same ship to Alaska in July. Had I taken this ship first, I never would have booked another cruise on the Dawn. I guess the Diamond Princess spoiled me!

Well we were in Mini suite on Baja Deck, the balcony was long, but very narrow. I just can't see what everyone likes...but again, this is my first cruise ever. I guess I just wanted more. I agree on the Casino dealers. The "Let It Ride" table guy, didn't even say hello, welcome, kiss my Arse, nothing, lol. Oh well, live and learn I guess.

We were on this 2 day cruise too. It was a quick trip to nowhere. You cannot judge cruising if this was your first cruise by this one. There was no way that all the departments were in full passenger mode for this mini cruise..and the weather did not cooperate. The Dawn Princess was going to leave on Tuesday at noon for San Francisco without passengers. The food in the dining room was good..breakfast and dinner. And the La Scala pizzeria was wonderful..really a nice venue for pizza, lunch or dinner, as opposed to the pizza on deck on the other ships. The Dawn Princess is a lovely ship..and I love the fact that it has the walking deck that goes all around the ship. Sorry about your experience in the casino..that is a personality thing. The shows both evenings were entertaining..and "Save The Last Dance" production we had not seen before and we were on the Golden Princess in November. Any day cruising is better than staying at home...

Calm seas and blue skies...

We were also on this 2 night sailing. We went to Sterlings the first night and didn't care for the food or the service. We had anytime dining the second night and walked in at 7PM and we were seated promptly. The service and food were good in florentines. The dawn's buffet was the worst I've ever encountered in over 40 cruises. In Ensenada we walked into Town and bought vanilla at the supermarket. I wouldn't sail again on the Dawn although i had a wonderful time, I was away on vacation :D

I too was on this cruise, and I must say, as much as I love the Dawn Princess, something was just "off" with this entire cruise. Ben, the ships photographer told me that the crew was absolutely appalled at the "party" atmosphere of the cruise. He said it was worse than any spring break they have ever had. I think the vast majority of passengers on this cruise were under 30, looking to party hearty and drink the two days away. The onboard activities were non existant, and people had to actually find things to do. I agree about the food in the buffet. It was just awful. All other food venues were great. This entire cruise is making me reconsider the short 2 to 4 day cruise options. Having said all of the above, I did have a wonderful time with my large group of friends! I also made some great new friends, and if John and Nicole are reading this, it was such a pleasure meeting you both!! You are such an amazing young couple!

Maybe this explains why it was so easy for us to find last minute seats at the shows. We saw both production shows and the ventriloquist and had no trouble finding seats. None of the shows we saw were full, to our surprise.

This is John replying: Thanks Terry, it's nice to be called young - but that only applies to Nicole. We had a great time meeting you too. You have a great group of friends and we are honored to have been a part of it. That's what made this cruise special. The services were missing/lacking in a lot of places, but some of the guests were the greatest people around. That certainly included your group. I'll need to read the rest of this thread to see if I can find the picture Jane took, but if they aren't there please send me a link at JohnSuch@hotmail.com. I also gave you kudos in the roll call thread.

John
