Caribbean Guide Books

Hi all, I ask this question of all who have traveled to the Caribbean and perhaps those who have traveled a lot in the Caribbean.

 

If you were buying a new guide book(s) which one(s) would you choose.

 

I am not too interested in the books that tell me how to choose a cruise line, (I can do that) but rather getting good, up to date information on the islands, history, attractions, etc.

I just purchased Frommer's Caribbean Ports of Call, and I am really enjoying reading about all the different Caribbean islands. It tells you what's best to do on each island (ie, shopping, beaches, etc.) and which are the best excursions to take. Its really helped me in deciding which islands to see.

Caribbean Port's of Call, Eastern and Southern Regions by Kathy Showker is the excellent book I am currently using to help plan my cruise in the same area that you are going. It's written speciffically for cruise passengers, and concentrates on the ports (not the ships).

I recently bought two INSIGHT GUIDES and found them well illustrated,page to page

and with accurate info.

 

I live on Barbados, so I read the Barbados bit right away :)

to find it realistic and not 'sugar-coated' - if that counts for anything.
