Greetings All,:)

We're trying to decide if SB is a good match for a B2B Fall '09 Mediterranean 30th anniversary cruise (Odyssey v. Spirit). The "O" as a newly released ship is very tempting but does not appear to offer the itineray we're ISO. Did a search within the forum using "age" as keyword but unsuccessful at finding an answer. We are 64 and 51 years.

  1. We were curious about what we might expect for an age range & distribtuion on a SB Med. cruise - based on your past expereince. We have done a HAL NE/CA and felt perfectly comfortable there.
  2. What is the nature of topical areas for any enrichment lectures while onbboard (if any)-particularly interested in port info about history, geography, culture, nature etc. but also estate planning and other world travel. How would you rate the quality/ credentials of past lecturers?

In advance, many thanks for your helpful replies.

Med cruises tend to have passengers averaging right in your age range because many work and can take 7 or 14 days off at a time. The demographic can slip a bit lower in the Caribbean with some children/teens lowering the average, while it rises a good bit for the longer cruise as retirees generally have more free time for them.

Leah,

agewise, you'll fit right in.

Last year, SB had a very interesting lecturer - Nigel West, an expert on espionage. He talked about spy and war history on the balkans and Adriatic ports we cruised. Very entertaining. Other than that, there was a weekly presentation on the ports for the week, excursions, etc. On such a port-intensive cruise there would have been little time for anything else.

Regarding Lecturers,

On the April Legend Crossing, there were three, one of which was Ambassador Edward Peck, who I found very interesting. He gave daily talks and I attended most of them. The disussions were thought-provoking, insightful and humorous all at the same time!
