Cruise Insurance

I realize that most people buy travel insurance for their expensive cruises that are in another continent.

Do you also buy insurance for short cruises from a nearby port that only cost a few thousand dollars, when the ship is never far away from land?

This is based on the assumption that your health insurance policy covers medical emergencies in any part of the world.

WE buy it for all travel outside of the US. I hope I just pay the premiums, have peace of mind and never use! If there is ever a need for a medical evacuation/transportation, it will pay for itself over and over. We do NOT buy it thinking we will get reimbursed for lost luggage, etc., even if that were to happen. The insurance is to cover (for us) the catastropic event/accident.

I buy house insurance and car insurance and hope I never use! :)
