tamiflood Posted May 20, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 20, 2008 Okay ladies... I am thinking of planning a vow-renewal cruise with Carnival next year. It will be like a family reunion/vow renewal, so there will be guests invited. Which would make a better favor for about 25 people . 1. Travel id Holders- I ordered samples and there is a pocket for your sail and sign card or id in the front, and a back pocket for your passport or cash (useful when people get off the ship on shore excursions) OR 2. Passport Covers-Since everyone needs a passport to travel I figure it will be useful. Both are these are AWESOME (the picture does them no justice), but of course my husband doesn't think they are necessary. I am torn when it comes to favors (I'm so corney, but I have to have them) Which would you get? See below....:D Travel id holders http://www.cruisenfavors.com/cruise-travel-id-holders.html Passport Covers http://www.cruisenfavors.com/passport-covers.html

Just because they will come more handy while on the cruise with the pockets and whatnot. A cover is a nice idea...but that is all it can do. ErinD92 Posted May 20, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 20, 2008 I like the passport cover. There is no way i would carry my sign and sail card, money and/or ID around my neck on a little string.....
tamiflood Posted May 20, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted May 20, 2008 I like the travel id holder too. I thought about how it could work on shore excursions and if you see the design in person its pretty sturdy. Even if you didnt want to tuck it in under your shirt, it could easily go in your back pack. I am so torn, because the passport holder only really has one function, but it is really nice. I like the fact that both have these awesome cruise designs. I couldn't find stuff like this when I was planning my wedding. Hmm...Looks like we have one vote for each... My husband is no help at all. Let me know if you think of anything else.
J's Gal Posted May 20, 2008 #5 Share Posted May 20, 2008 For me personally, if I were the one receiving the gift, I would rather have the Passport Cover. They are both great, whichever you decide! :)
tamiflood Posted May 20, 2008 Author #6 Share Posted May 20, 2008 Thanks for the input...I keep going back and forth. I just can't decide...
Cruisintink Posted May 20, 2008 #7 Share Posted May 20, 2008 I think I'm putting the vote at a tie again...I would rather receive the ID holder. We have used similar (cheaper version from Ebay with only one ziplock pocket) on previous cruises and they were so handy. My hubby wore his around his neck under his shirt at shore and I kept mine in the beach bag and the card was so much easier to find. Good luck!;) Oh also, our passports pretty much were put in the safe in the cabin and left there-not used as much as sail and sign card.
pearl667 Posted May 20, 2008 #8 Share Posted May 20, 2008 Hi! I would go with the ID holder rather than the passport cover...I am giving ID holders in our welcome bags. I know the men in our group will not use them but I think that many of the women will. Its very convenient even if it is not a great fashion statment! 6rugrats Posted May 20, 2008 #9 Share Posted May 20, 2008 I agree with your husband; neither are necessary. So much of this stuff just winds up in the trash. I would certainly appreciate the thought, but the reality is that I wouldn't use either of these, and neither would my husband.
tamiflood Posted May 21, 2008 Author #10 Share Posted May 21, 2008 ARG! I'm so confused. You all make such good points. I def want to use one of these, because when I am cruising I hate having to run back and forth to the cabin for stuff. I always thought something worn around my neck with the sail and sign card would be ideal (at the pool...at lunch and just hangin out on the ship). And the back pocket that holds the passport is PERFECT for when you get off the boat (u need your sail and sign card and passport to get back on the boat). So I guess I am leaning more towards the travel ids, but the passport holders may be more universal. I wish I could afford to buy both to give out. I have both and bought my mother both. She is leaving on a cruise in 4 wks. I got her the sunshine cruise version and she loves them. Its a shame because you really can't tell how adorable and surprisingly well made these are by the pics. The good thing is I have a while before I MUST make a decision. I just want to order these in advance before they sell out or become discontinued. Any new feed back is welcomed. Thanks...so ladies are awesome and honest!
finn1913 Posted May 21, 2008 #11 Share Posted May 21, 2008 Hiya Tamiflood, Here's a few thoughts (devil's advocate style)... That will add up quickly at $10 each. You might want to consider the 'cost : actually being used' ratio. I kind of agree with your husband. I doubt any of the men in our group would have really appreciated them, but that's not to say yours wouldn't! If you def want something that can be worn around your neck... customized lanyards might be an idea. They're not bulky, are good for key cards (get a hole punched at the Purser's desk), will fit in a pocket, can still be used in the real world, might appeal to more people, and won't cost as much. (So if 10 don't make it home, you haven't invested $100!) From my experience and talking with some friends, we discovered that most favours end up in the bin... with the exception of anything edible. Chocolates and candy always seem to disappear before the night is out. I hope I haven't offended and happy planning! Cheers, Ann

You only need your passport twice while on the ship..atleast from what I remember. Once when you first get on..once when you leave for good. So maybe something smaller is the way to go. As far as the guys...this poster is right. Most of them won't wear something around their neck...but pockets are do'able. My fiancé is this way! Lanyards may be the way to go! tamiflood Posted May 29, 2008 Author #13 Share Posted May 29, 2008 I think I have decided on the travel id holders. I agree that people generally do not hold on to wedding favors very long (and men almost always look confused and give the favor to whomever they are with), but as an experienced cruiser I have always thought that something like this would be great for cruising. I dispise fanny packs and I do not carry a purse at all while on the boat. I think having the sail and sign accessible around my neck (under whatever I am wearing) when I am at the pool, at the casino, dinner, or shopping would be a lifesaver. The passport section of the travel id holder is cool for when you get off the ship (although I would probably put the id holder in my back pack or whatever I was carrying on shore). I generally lock up my passport otherwise. I showed my coworker who is planning a cruise family reunion and she flipped out! She ordered two cruise samples and 2 others that were kinda nice for men (dark colors...I think one had an airplane and a ship) and showed me today. Anyway...I would be too jealous if she ended up with the holders and I didn't. I may go back to the site and see if I can order a sample of the masculine one she showed me. My hubby seemed to like that one... We gave out OOT bags for our first wedding and I want to do something smaller and different. Will keep you posted.... Thanks for the feedback
tamiflood Posted May 31, 2008 Author #14 Share Posted May 31, 2008 Hey...I went back to order 1 more sample and saw they have a new offer for FREE sample (but there was a shipping charge). Crusin's_girl Posted May 31, 2008 #15 Share Posted May 31, 2008 I would do lanyards, but for us I would do a cheaper non-customized one as I am cheap and will have a full party. I like the ones on here: http://www.lanyardsupply.com/lanyards/plain-lanyards-ly401-14.htm

I like the ones on here: http://www.lanyardsupply.com/lanyards/plain-lanyards-ly401-14.htm[/quote'] Cruisin's girl, Thanks for the website! They also have the plastic ziplock holders which work well for a credit card and some cash when going to shore. We bought a few a while back from somewhere (maybe ebay) and I would like to get more for our group cruise next year. Thanks again.
